i actually really liked this play—specifically laura—and tenessee williams’ use of symbols & motifs was rather thought-provoking.
laura: slowly opening up when the gentleman caller came, realizing that she is not so unloveable as she thinks—she shows growth and a new perspective, and ends the play with a newly-found sense of self. she is my favorite, i think, and the only dynamic character to boot.

a bit dull. the characters weren’t very interesting, and i thought them rather shallow. ALSO!! common misconception, but it is historical FICTION

an incredibly long book, but i liked it! elliot is very much an asshole, though, so if that isn’t something you’re okay with, i don’t recommend. i do like the fleshing out of relationships! elliot is a complex character, to be sure.
