About That Night by Julie James

5.0

We were introduced to Kyle Rhodes in 'A Lot like love'. He is Jordon Rhodes's twin brother, who is a computer genius and also happens to be an ex-con cause he shuts down twitter for two days. So he is infamously known as the "Twitter Terrorist" And Rylann is a new Assistant U.S. Attorney, just moved to Chicago.

So Rylann and Kyle meet in a bar nine years ago, which was really cute and I loved this part. They have undeniable chemistry, but Kyle stood up for their first date as his mother died in an accident and now they meet in a courthouse for his case and they still have the same undeniable chemistry between them.

Kyle is the key witness of Rylann's case. But he refuses to answer any questions that is until Rylan walk in asks him to and he reluctantly agrees to testify.
And from there their relationship grows. There were, of course obstacles in their way, as he is the ex-con and she is the Assistant U.S. Attorney and everything but they work it out in the end. We get to meet previous characters and I loved them too!

Some of my favourite quotes :

“I saw you laughing with your friends, and your smile sucked me right in.”

“Because nine years ago, I walked up to the most beautiful girl in the bar, and tonight she's still the only person I want to talk to.”

“You came along and changed everything. I don’t want to be some guy you’re fooling around with anymore, Rylann. I want to be with you all the way."

“It may have taken nine years, and a whole lot of wrong turns along the way, but their story felt complete at last.
Because, finally, she was his.”

“I love you, Rylann." He cupped her face, peering down into her eyes. "And now I finally have a good answer to the one question everyone always asks me--why I hacked into Twitter. I didn't know it at the time... but I did it to find you again."
She leaned into him, curling her fingers around his shirt. "That may be the best justification I've ever heard for committing a crime." She looked up at him, her eyes shining. "And I love you, too, you know."

Hero by Samantha Young

I am a fan of Samantha Young's writing, On Dublin Street being my favourite book of hers. Her books contains lot of hilarious situations, but even though there is humor in Hero, it is a bit darker than On Dublin Street series.

Alexa Holland aka Lexi works as a personal assistant for a very successful photographer and one day after returning to work she comes to find Caine Carraway for a shoot there. She is stunned to see him because it was her father's actions in the past that had affected Caine tremendously and she tells him who she really is. And lot of things happen after that. And in the end she loses her job.

Now Lexi being the strong and independent woman goes to fight with Caine for her job and Caine being a jerk, he gives her the job as his assistant to punish her for her father's sins. The thing is, he was a jerk to her for major portion until he realized that she is not like her father. And then again, because he thought she didn't deserve a partner like him. Now for that, he had his reasons and maybe valid enough but that still that didn't excuse his behaviour. Lexi was strong and kept pushing even when he tried to give up but later I got frustrated with this push and pull.

I really liked Lexi. I understood why she did, what she did. And just when I started feeling like Lexi is the only one acting as the glue to their relationship, Caine used to do something sweet and prove he loves her just as much. In the end when he comes and rescues her from a situation and then he explains that he had actually come to beg her to take him back and the way he takes care of her when she is hospitalized and everything was sweet. I liked the banter between Lexi and Caine. I liked the secondary characters as well, Henry and Effie were really fun to have around.

I would have given this book 5 stars but I had some minor issues and that is why, I give this book 4 stars.

Some of my favourite quotes:
“You’re the one real thing in my life right now … You should know I don’t want to let that go.”

“I am not your mother. I’m not looking for something else from life. I’m not looking for more. I’m not looking for a great adventure. I’m not looking, because I found it. You are my more. You are my great adventure.”
Caine stared at me in wonder. “I can’t believe that after everything I put you through you’re still here.”

“You came for me,” I whispered, trying not to get choked up again. “Even though it meant facing my father, you followed me to protect me. That meant everything to me. You saved my life.”
His own eyes were bright with emotion and his voice was hoarse when he vowed, “I will always protect you.”

“Is this real?” I grinned, causing tears to spill down my cheeks.
Caine hauled me to my feet and wrapped his arms around me. He kissed the tears away and held me tight. “Baby, it’s real.”

Fall with Me by Jennifer L. Armentrout

We meet Roxy and Reece in the previous book. Roxy works in Jax's bar and Reece is his best friend. I was excited to read more about them when they were introduced. To know what was the past between them.

The story starts out great. I like Roxy and her shirts with weird sayings on it. And then you meet Reece and I loved him through out the book. He was supported her with everything and was understanding but Roxy just disappointed me. She behaves kind of weird not just with Reece but also when she's being stalked, she suspects its Casper the friendly ghost. Now who thinks like that in real life?

Anyway, I felt unsatisfied with how Reece and Roxy just start dating without any explanation as to why now after 11 months of not fighting like cats and dogs with each other.

But apart from these thongs, it was a good read. We get to meet old characters and catch up with them.

I like this author's writing and with this series some books are a total hit and some are miss for me unfortunately. This one was in the middle somewhere. I liked majority of the book but in between only I felt like how can anyone be this stupid. That said, I loved it when the characters weren't being stupid.

Some of my favorite quotes:
“Remember everything I said in the bedroom? I'm scared, too. And there are times I question what I deserve, but we're in this together. So fall with me," he said, smoothing his thumbs along my cheekbones. "Let yourself go and fall with me, and baby, I will catch you. I will get you through this. You just got to take that risk.”

"kissed me like he had all the time in the world. Slowly at first, just a brushing of his mouth against mine, and then deeper, parting my lips with his tongue. It wasn’t just a kiss. Not when his tongue danced over mine or the way he tasted me. Reece turned kissing into an art form, and if I had to attach a color to it, to get it on canvas, it would be supple shades of reds and purples.”

“Unfortunately, I also hated him, absolute loathed him. Ah, well, most of the time. Sometimes. Pretty much whenever I gazed upon his perfection and started lusting after him. Yeah, that's when I hated him.”
