Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

I would love to be more like Naomi! The reality is I am undeniably a reformed sl*t like Sloane, down to the love I share for my vacuum. đź’—
As a married 30-something who loves the familiar I related so much to these characters. The depth of their friendship was enviable and I loved seeing it develop even more over the course of the birthday weekend. The banter and cringe-inducing moments made even the goriest parts of this feel like a platonic rom-com.
“Am I most attracted to the people who are destined to do me the most harm?” Rachel Harrison how dare you take this quote from my diary?? I had to pause and step away for a few minutes.
All that said, I feel like we spent too much time galavanting and the ending felt a bit too perfect and rushed for me. This is my first novel by the author and it made me hungry for more!
Swoon-worthy clean romance that packs an emotional punch.
Laine and Sutton forever! I loved their friendship almost as much as their slow burn romance. The way they cared for one another during some of the more emotional moments made this book and its characters memorable.
Laine is quirky without being *~qUiRkY~* and Sutton is strong but soft. I fell in love with both of them and their families. I’m still weirded out by Cassidy.
The mechanical bull! That’s all I’ll say about that.

I know I just finished this one, but I really hope there is another book in this series!
Thank you to the author for this ARC! My review contains my own honest thoughts.
Light, cozy, and comforting. If you’ve been reading too many heavy books and you’re in the mood for fantasy, this is the perfect palate cleanser.
Highly recommend the audiobook narrated by the author. He does a great job of giving voice to the characters and making the story come alive. He also made me crave a latte and chocolate croissant bad, so there’s that.
It was cute, funny, entertaining, and I liked the cast of characters. Some of the scenes surrounding family dynamics fell flat for me, especially the pre-Thanksgiving gathering. Just a whole lot of built up anxiety for nothing to really happen.
The spice was 8/10 for me. It felt realistic and sensual as it should!! Not everything needs to be hard and fast, ya know?
I really enjoyed the supporting characters and found family aspects. If nothing else it left me craving a fresh brownie.
The audiobook was un-put-down-able enough that I cleaned my whole house while listening. ADHD, baby!
A headstrong, independent woman who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty? What’s not to love about Abitha? I particularly enjoyed her vexing the witless brother-in-law at every turn, especially from his POV.
It really was Abitha vs. Almost Everyone, but the tension between characters built up perfectly and the ending was incredibly satisfying. I appreciated the ability to savor the final act rather than enduring a sloppy rush job!!
I found this quote to be interesting and timely with the political climate we find ourselves in again: “At least cruelty was a thing that could be pointed out, confronted. But this belief, this absolute conviction that this evil they were doing was good, was God’s work. How? How, she wondered, could such a conviction be overcome?”
