I'm nowhere near a romance girlie but this was honestly so sweet and light. If you're having a shitty week, this one will definitely cheer you up. There is a fair share of miscommunication included, which might be a pain in the ass, but overall, I'm not mad about it also, where is my own private bisexual impulsive redhead himbo 🧍♀️🧍♀️🧍♀️
I'm not sure sun & star was that good. Honestly the fact that it's about solangelo aka my no 1 bubs alone bumps the rating at least by one star. But anyway, there was definitely more relationship/feelings on focus than just pure fighting like in the other books. At times I think you could feel that this was cowritten because usually I find Rick's books smooth and effortlessly funny whereas here I wasn't always sold on the humor. Sometimes I feel like the talk of queer identities felt a bit awkward?? That might be the translation at fault though. And also it kinda makes sense because let's be honest being a teenager is so fucking embarrassing istg
I have to say I'm disappointed. I remember watching the movie as a kid, and never finishing it because I was pissing myself in fear. But honestly the book doesn't have much of a plot. The world building is quite interesting but it's hard to say the same about the characters, who mostly just hung out to be honest
The Chinese diaspora around the world is truly so versatile and interesting. This book is less than 300 pages but I've learned so much about the world and history from it :3
