This was a lot more fun than the previous ones. It was like a respite before the storm.

This was definitely my favorite of the series so far. The storyline was strong in this one and it’s interesting to see how these characters are interacting with one another. This was intense.

I’m enjoying all the layers in this series but I’m not a big fan of the Robot Kingdom subplot thus far. I’m hoping the next volume changes that but we’ll see.

As someone who had braces in my teens and had four teeth removed during the process, this was super relatable. This was such a wholesome read. My younger cousin who got her braces in middle school also loves this story so it’s definitely one I’d recommend for those who have had, currently have, or are waiting on braces. It’s also just a great middle grade overall and one I’d definitely recommend.

I’ve been reading this on and off for the past few months, trying to savor the characters and their story while being terrified that I would end up disappointed. I don’t usually read sequels because I fear that they won’t live up to their predecessor. Thankfully, this was not that kind of sequel.

There was so much going on in this book, but in a way where it was able to get its own footing and set its own focus, while doing Raybearer justice. I think the story was excellently crafted and one I got to the second half, I couldn’t put it down. There are so many layers to Tarasai and Aristar and even though this is a duology, I wouldn’t mind revisiting this world in another one of Jordan Ifueko’s novels.

I absolutely love time travel stories and this one does it so well. The language, the letters, the sheer creativity! I love it here.

If you’re into flowery, poetic language with a sci-of twist, there’s a good chance you’ll enjoy this.

Things got really intense with this one and I love how the story progressed. I’m a fan of the narration and the dialogue flows naturally, even though there are some derogatory things said but that comes from the people you’re not rooting for.

This. Was. Wild! It’s so intense and keeps you on the edge of your seat for every chapter. I’m not a fan of sex scenes and nudity in graphic novels, personally, but the story itself is great.
slow-paced

I enjoyed the beginning and I loved how it ended but the middle dragged on a bit. I just feel like Amy is a little too slow at catching onto things and I wish the plot moved faster.

This was so good! It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Maika and Maritza Moulite, especially after the masterpiece that is Dear Haiti, Love Alaine. BUT, I did go into this one a little wary. I was worried that it would be another police brutality story and I've personally read a few too many of those.

Thankfully, my worries were quieted 60 pages in, when I realized that things wouldn't be as simple. I don’t want to give any spoilers, so I'll keep this short and sweet. If you like road trips, secrets, and a bit of thrill, then this is the book for you.
