This was a top tier middle grade! I loved everything about it. The characters were fleshed out really well. The friendships and family relationships were given a great amount of focus. I loved the way conflicts were resolved in this one. It’s absolutely perfect for middle grade aged children but I think this is one of those books that everyone should be reading, regardless of age.

I read Paper Girls earlier this year and several people have told me to check out Brian K. Vaughan’s other prominent series, Saga. I’ve been hearing about these books for years but space and aliens have never held much appeal for me. This, on the other hand, drew me in rapidly. The world building is crafted so well but the story itself is very character driven, which is exactly what I need. There are a few things that irked me, like the use of the r slur, but this is a series that I can see myself continuing on with.

I love the fact that this was an interracial romance between two non-white characters. It’s so rare to see that in mainstream contemporary romance so this was super refreshing. The chemistry between the MCs was great, it didn’t feel forced or uncomfortable. I think there was a good balance between the romance and the plot but I wasn’t a fan of the “girl boss” feminism aspects and I think more could’ve been done with the gentrification subplot. The steamy scenes were well executed and I loved how sex positive this book was. It’s a fun, quick read.

This series is growing on me. I’m enjoying the character development but Amy does feel a bit bland at times. I wish she was taking more action instead of just having things happen to her.

This was another where I liked some comics in the collection more than others, but it did feel a lot more cohesive than the first volume.

This one had its sweet and fluffy moments but it also tackled some more serious issues, like eating disorders and self harm. I love the way this story is crafted and how healthy the relationships are, especially the friendships that Charlie has.

This was so fluffy, I loved it. Charlie and Nick are officially my comfort couple. I nearly finished it in one sitting but I decided to pace myself a bit. Now I’m off to devour Volume 3.

This was fun. I feel like it’s something I would’ve enjoyed a lot when I was younger, especially during my diary phase. I think this story captures of voice of a young teen really well, though it does get repetitive at times.

This was so good! I flew threw this one and need Volume 2 expeditiously. This story was so well done and sweet. I can see why Nick and Charlie are a comfort couple for so many readers.

I liked this one a lot. The mix between Oliver’s existential dread and Amy’s optimism/curiosity has been really nice. The characters are all pretty interesting and I loved the little comic short at the end.
