This book was just okay for me. Pretty standard, middle of the road, no surprises, romance. There is nothing new or original here. It just feels like a decent read with a predictable plot and the expected ending.

I love Samantha Young! But you should only read this book if you're into "bully romance" and/or hate sex. I'm not so much so this was a rocky read for me.

Marlow and Hunter wake up married after a wild night in Vegas and suddenly their temporary hook-up relationship is a permanent one.

The very best part of this story was that it is the man in the relationship who wants more, who knows he is in love, and who is ready for commitment. It was so refreshing!! I loved Hunter's wild ways, but sweet heart. And Marlow was a great female lead who showed a lot of power, but also vulnerability. These characters had amazing chemistry paired with heat and also tenderness.

I really liked this book, but there were a few little details that I felt were left open that I wish had been resolved by the end of the story. Not a big deal, but I was wishing for a more fleshed-out ending or an epilogue to tie up loose ends.

Trigger Warning: Domestic violence

I've read the other books in this series and I loved all of them. This one was my least favorite. Here's why:

- The book jumps back and forth between the night of the one night stand at the start of the story and the present time and even though the chapters are well labeled as flashback or present time, the story gets all broken up and the flow of reading is completely choppy.

- There are pages and pages of this book dedicated to the male lead and his group of best friends. These chapters do nothing to advance the story we are reading. I assume based on the sheer amount of time these characters get that they are probably from a different series by this same author. But, having not read any other series by this author these portions are just wasted filler. The friendships are nice and all, but it's just waaaaay too much.

- The chapters end often without resolution. As in the main characters are making out on the couch. The lead male says he could kiss her like this all night. The next chapter starts and it's 3 weeks later. Wait, what happened? Did they just kiss and then one of them went home? This happens repeatedly throughout the entire book.

- The lead male character is perfect. TOO damn perfect. Can the guy have even one flaw? I like sweet male leads, but when they are written with this level of perfection it just falls flat. Listen, I married a damn SAINT. My husband is a WAY better person than I am, but he still does stuff that makes me want to homicide his ass. Because he's a human.

Okay so, those issues out there, the book isn't bad. It's an okay/good read. But it definitely doesn't hold up to the other books in this series.

Did you see the 1990's Julia Roberts movie "Sleeping With the Enemy"? If so, would you call it a Romance? No? Well, WAITING ON A COWBOY is the book form of Sleeping With the Enemy. And it sure as hell isn't a Romance.

This is a book about a woman who is dates a man who becomes abusive. When she breaks up with him he begins stalking her and they eventually have a climactic showdown. As a very small side story is the fact that she is in love with her best friend, Tate, and they start dating.

80% of this book is her abusive relationship/stalking. A mere 20% is the romance with the best friend from her youth. If you like a suspense thriller then you might really enjoy this book, but selling it as a romance is completely absurd.

Trigger Warning: Domestic Abuse, Stalking, Sexual Abuse, Murder

Woooo-wheeeee! Talk about freaking HOT.

A LIE FOR A LIE is a super steamy romance that I loved reading. When two strangers meet on an airplane on their way to Alaska they are thrown together and end up having a crazy hot vacation affair. When they bump into each other again a year later they have to decide if they can make a relationship work in the real world and with a few very big lies in their way.

The chemistry between these characters is amazing and their story is unexpected, sexy, and utterly sweet. Lainey is a great heroine who is insanely smart, kind of sheltered, finding her voice, and who struggles with anxiety. I just adore her and the complexity of her character. Rook fell just a bit flat for me as a leading man. He's wonderful and sexy, but there seems to be a disconnect with the playboy he used to be and the achingly sweet man he is in the present. There isn't a lot of explanation for this transformation and it left me feeling a little unsure of how he came to be the man he is in this book. He's not an awful character at all, but I wish the author would have given him a bit more explanation. We end up with a character who seems way too good to be true.

Overall I loved this book and I can't wait to continue this series!

This book has a really fresh premise that I totally loved. After a whirlwind two weeks of romance, West and Harper sign a six month lease on a rental house and then break up. Forced to live out the lease with their ex brings lots of sexual tension, pranks, and heat!

This book had great fighting and banter between these two and their chemistry was OFF THE CHARTS HOT. The steamy scenes are extra steamy.

I had a few issues with the book, the first and really major one was the repeated use of the term "Pale Face" to describe a character. The publishers and author really should have done a minute or two of research to recognize that this term is extremely offensive. It is a term created by WHITE people in Hollywood to ascribe to Native Americans being bloodthirsty and violent towards white Americans. It was started in an effort to make the movie audience feel like Native Americans were racist towards white people and plotting to destroy them out of hatred. It's just insanely not okay to use this term any form.

Besides that awful oversight, this story had a few issues. The leading lady suffers from TSTL Syndrome (Too Stupid To Live). You repeatedly shake your head and wonder how an adult female is this blind and idiotic. She is still fairly liable, but it's really annoying.

Overall, a good premise, some good banter, but not a great book.

I received and free ARC of this title from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

3.5 STARS

I thought this book was pretty good, but not nearly as good as the others in the series as far as I'm concerned. I love an Enemies to Lovers trope, but this one didn't have a very good explanation as to why these two stared as enemies. The banter was great and the hate sex was seriously HOT.

I found both of these characters likable and I especially loved how introspective they each were about the mistakes they had made in their own previous relationships. So often we get a demonized Ex version of past relationships and this was a very refreshing change!

I love this series and will continue reading the rest. This one didn't quite do it for me the way the others did.

FINALLY!!! FI

I finally read a novella I can get behind! They are usually not my favorite, but it works here because it is a bridge between books 1 and 2 in this series and really tie them together.
