Thank you Penguin Randomhouse Canada and Goodreads for my copy of this book!!

Suspenseful. Captivating. Gripping.

This book hooked me 30 pages in and didn't let go! It was captivating and enjoyable the whole way through.

I had high hopes since I've read many legal thrillers by John Grisham and Michael Connelly - which set my legal thriller expectatjons high! I was not disappointed by Abrams' work! Easily comparable to Grisham or Connelly, closer to Grisham.

This standalone moved quickly, with enough character detail to inform you without bogging you down. The pace was fast, light and expectant. There was a few different storylines coming together and the ending wrapped them up succinctly and completely.

This was a very engaging read. If you are in a slump, need something lighter, or are looking for a suspenseful, fast moving contemporary fiction then be sure to pick this up!

It's out May 25th!

Intrigue. Unsurprising. Lacking.

This was my first Colleen Hoover book and with the hype around this read I had high expectations and it fell flat for me. The hype could've been why it fell flat, so take that how you will!

I understand why some people enjoyed it; there was mystery, suspense and intrigue with the double-plot, the suspicios characters and the overall potential for disaster.

For me, the ending was lacking, it felt easiest rather than the best in terms of a story for the reader. The twists were predictable, the tropes were common and the climactic peak was more of a hill than apex. It was still a decent thriller, but definitely not vying for a top spot in the genre, in my opinion.

The suspicion around the house and other housemates reminded me of The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware and the budding romance with a conscienceless ending reminded me of When No One is Watching. So if you liked them, I'd pick this one up and vice versa.

Bravery. Courage. Truth.

This was a phenomenal telling of the tension, history and conflict that led up to the incident where Malala Yousafzai was fighting for her life in hospital, still only a teenager.

There are so many great quotes in this book, and ideologies and mindsets and perspectives that I'd have to copy at least half the book to highlight them all for you! I definitely recommend reading this book!

Such a courageous woman and family!

Frightening. Unearthly. Captivating.

Lock Every Door by Sager was such a good read for me that I wasn't expecting this one to match - especially after I started it. I'm not into ghosts/spirits/supernatural beings and so on. I do not enjoy reading about them.

Halfway through I was thinking it was all going to stay supernatural and frilly and honestly, lame. But WOAH! Sager drew a conclusion together that was great!! I was expecting to to end in an obvious fashion or there was going to be a semi-subtle twist, but neither of these things happened!!

This was a great read! I recommend if you're looking for a thriller or suspenseful book to choose this one!! Even if you're not into ghosts and such, I recommend because I dont think you'll be disappointed.

Steady. Calm. Unyeilding.

Joshi's debut novel definitely made me add the second book to my Want to Read shelf on HASHTAG GOODREADS. It was a slow, steady book with twists that had you wondering how it all turned out. I was rooting for Lakshmi (the MC) from the moment I started this book!

In such a difficult situation, she has thrived and I was eager to find out if her and Radha could make a successful go or not. I enjoyed this read and will be recommending it I'm sure.

Suspenseful. Chilling. Eerie.

I finished this book at 1 am and was a little too creeped out to fall asleep

Calm. Building. Anti-Climactic.

It took a lot of will-power to get through this story for me. I love a historical fiction, it's definitely one of my favourite genres! However, this read was difficult in how it jumped between timelines, characters and viewpoints.

The constant changing did not help the story, and the build up felt faulty in how slow it continued. The sentence lengths did not add build up or slow the pace, instead I found it constant and lacking.

I enjoyed the plot, the characters were well-developed and consistent, and the plot/story was great! But I think it could've been done chronologically in order to make it more suspenseful and therefore more captivating.

I definitely recommend this book, I just think I picked it up too many times at the beginning and it needed to be given more attention at a time. I would read another Doerr book.

Let me know what you thought! Hopefully this helps you decide if it's for you!

Suspicious. Captivating. Tense.

I read this book and then found out it was #11 in a series. That being said, I did not feel like I was missing anything or something wasn't explained. This was a great read!

I really liked the characters so I may pick up another in this series! I enjoyed the plot, the writing style and the pace. Gardner had the reader suspicious of everyone, wanting to know what happens and hoping the characters make it out of the rural mountain town unscathed.

It was a good read, captivating and engaging! I definitely wanted to know how it ends and I was constantly trying to guess who was bad, and hoping that the little girl survived. Based on this read, I would recommend Gardner if you're looking for a mystery!
