When I saw the blurb, I picked up the book very quickly.

The plot is compelling.  It was original and it kept me engaged. I love the peek I got in kelpie culture.  Lynck, the Kelpie clip-clopped right into my heart.

But I couldn't help but wishing this story was given more space to unfold. Because it is great! I don't think it has reached it full potential.  It was too rushed for me.  I would loved to be shown, instead of be told, so I can experience it. And therefore connect with it more.

The book did make me laugh. And the song... that will stick with me.

DID NOT FINISH: 30%

I struggled to connect to the world and the characters.  When the attraction started between the MMCs, I was in a different place as a reader.
Sadly it wasn't for me.

I am a sucker for misfits, found family, hurt/comfort and a little bit of magic with plot and kinky spice. This book gave me all of that!! And added a pitbull.
I didn't stand a chance.

Liam keeps getting hit with curses. The curse breaker Fix gives the daddy vibes he craves,  but Liam is burned too many times and tries to keep his distance.
There is a lot going on, but with every piece of information that is revealed,  the mystery grows. I was hooked.

This is book 3 of the curse breakers series. Each book gets better, in my opinion. Because we venture deeper into this world. We see more of the team of misfits curse breakers. And they are so interesting. Many layers! I crave to know more of them.  Book munchies!

"The Bratva is a graveyard and we've all been marked for death. You more than most."

My heart is squeezed. I feel so much for these broken boys in dark circumstances.
This book is so beautifully written.

"There was Before. There was After.
My heart lay shattered somewhere in between."

It is dark,  but I am so happy I kept reading.
The longing. The layers. Their relationship.

"Every page of my life has you written between the lines. You could walk away right now,  and still wouldn't change how I feel about you. "

I need the next book now. And no, I am not mad at the cliffhanger. That is very unlike me,  but their story needed it.
Kiss of Death comes out 23rd of March.

"I know I'm supposed to hold everyone in the same high esteem,  but some people are just disappointments."

Talon Silverbright is my favourite character that Louisa Masters has written. He is grumpy, smart and has a talent in pissing people off. The characters around him, as lovable. I was happy to go on this quest with them.

World building in fantasy books can be a lot,  but not here. As a reader I felt like it flowed, organically.

"So I accidentally shrank him down to the size of an actual lizard. I reversed it,  didn't I? Fast too. But he got all huffy and forbade me from experimenting"
(Talon about a dragon)

This book held my attention after an 11 hour crisis day at work. And that is a miracle on its own.

I laughed, I smirked and I got my heart squeezed.
Faith, grief, breaking down barriers and justice are some of the themes in this book. With s little bit of maiming.

It contains romance, but it doesn't contain spice.

Read if you are in the mood to go on a magical adventure with snark!  4.5 stars from me!

'Who did this to you'
'Supportive family'
And a new, very specifi mini trope: 'badly done taxidermy turkey and calling it Terence'

I flew through the book. I think Amy Bellows is an amazing writer. I am sucked in straight away. Instantly connected to the world and the characters. She writes very addictively. This book is no exception.
It is wonderful and sweet.  A comfort read.

I love Silver so much. What a green flag racoon shifter! We love a body positive king. Lucas has been through a lot. And to see him find his sense of safety, was beautiful to witness.

My criticism with this book is,  the ending was sudden for me.  The book felt too short and rushed. I needed more time with them.  I will pick up the next book in this series when it comes out.  Because I love this racoon shifter family.  I can't get enough.

I pick up a book so fast when it is kinky and MMM. But this book gave much more.  I got spoiled and I didn't see it coming.
- Spice and plot
- Loving bdsm (it doesn't have to be dark!)
- Beautiful Trans and disability (Lupus) representation

It has instalust,  which I am not the biggest fan of. But the spanking, sensation play, praise with the slight degradation... in the words of Sloan whilst he fans himself: "Be still, my parts."
The 🐓 warming scenes had me all up in my feels and I don't even mean the wet ones. I usually use 'cozy' in very different contexts,  but... yes, cozy.

Sloan, Kai and Ezra have a beautiful dynamic and I love them.  They all have their story and they compliment each other. (Please check trigger warnings, because there are darker themes touched upon).

Finding love after love was absent... chef's kiss!

The author is new to me. And now my poor tbr is being stuffed with even more books, because I want to read the rest too!  This book is a part of a series,  but I had no difficulty reading it as a standalone.

Silly,  goofy and happy. I think it is a book that many people need in these times of unrest.

I really want to stress that what I'm going to say next, is my personal preference.  This book was excellent.
Merely, not the best match for me.
Silly isn't a flavour that I prefer. Also, I need a bit more bite, or layering in my stories.

That said, this book made me laugh and feel the warm fuzzies. I love Brad and Joey. Their love is so pure.

I felt so happy to see Alex and the rest of the Elite 8 Studios crew again.

It is dark. It is HURT/comfort.  This story grabbed me by the throat.

Tadhg is in the maffia and his whole life he is shaped to follow into his father's footsteps. Tadhg gets shot. Halfway to being a corpse, he gets dumped on Micah's doorstep. His long-lost little stepbrother.

Tadhg: "I'm not just an evil man. I'm a useless one as well. My dad always told me I was a worthless piece of s*** and it turned out that he was right. He's an a******, but he probably knows me better than anyone else."

Micah: "If Patrick (maffia daddy) has spent the last decade being a devil on his shoulder, this is my chance to be an angel. A very gay exhausted angel."

Micah and Tadhg. Both of their voices are very distinctly written. They both squeezed my heart and live there now.
I love the focus on them, their circumstances and their relationship, before the spice kicks in.  And holy fucking shit balls, when it kicks in, the spice is very hot.

The writing style is so damn good.  I am not a taboo reader, normally.  But Erin lures me in like a siren singing the most beautiful song and I am dragged under water before I know it. I am on the sea floor and be like: "Thank you for drowning me, I see now that I wanted to be here."
Erin is an autobuy author for me and they keep leveling up.

Favourite quote:
He takes in a breath and sighs the words, "Oh, honey," escaping his lips like a prayer. Of course, that doesn't help. The absurdity of it -someone calling me, Padraigh Moynihan's pet butcher- 'honey', makes me wanna laugh.

I enjoyed the setting, the story arc, characters and their backstory.  I think the bones of the story was well done.  But within the twists of the story,  I didn't always feel that I was taken on that journey... it felt clunky.
Same with the development of the relationship between Oscar and Trent. The coming together, caught me off guard.

So many great ingredients in this story, but I miss the layering,  blending and it really bringing it to life. I was missing finesse on the complexities of emotions and relating to themselves and each other. And therefore I had difficulty with feeling connected to the story.
With the exception of them singing. That was magical. That was my favourite part of this book. Also Oscar is a body positive king, we love to see that.

Favourite quote: "Coven Master Grosvenor is a mouthful. He prefers Freddie."
