A very cute story about penguin shifter who falls for a polar bear shifter, coming from very different cultures. It is cute! And explicit.
Very original and addictive series!

Impulsive Connections  by Marie Reynard.

This is the second book of the Elemental Bonds series. (You need and want to read it in order.)

Kade is a playboy shifter wolf who is secretly a romantic at heart. But he feels off his game after being attacked by one of the evil spirits that haunt his pack's territory.

Liam is the biggest nerd. He brought research for downtime during research. He's only in Lost Creek to help his friend save the Mills pack from the unknown evil infesting their land, but everything changes when he and Kade are paired up to capture the supernatural threat.

Tropes: slow burn, reluctant mates, unintended bonds, forced proximity, unfortunate bed shortages, and knotting (no Mpreg).

I was very happy to return to this pack of shifters. Funny, snarky and loving.
I love the characters, all of them, not just the mains. Including the cat.
And the unimpressed kid when he sees a mage with glowing tattoos  transform a lima bean into a tiny sprouted plant with earth magic at the dinner table:
“You make more vegetables?” with a look of pure horror on his face.

These kinds of interactions are typical. Marie Reynard packs her books full of funny details.  Like someone is reading a book about sweater shifters(?!!) with a tagline:  "Usually, she wears him. Tonight, he wears her." 💀

I am mad at Marie for two things.
1. Cockblocking with itchy eyeballs.
2. That cliffhanger.  Ugh. If she didn't write so well and addictive,  I wouldn't be in this pickle. (I am dealing with that by rereading book 1, which is amazing too.)
I need the next book now!

Just 1 warning, this book contains a whole lot of dick jokes.  Like a lot.

relaxing slow-paced

I picked this book up because I love MMM Romance, praise kink and Spain. But sadly the book just didn't grab me and I don't know why.

I am certain that this is someone's 5 star read, but it just wasn't mine.

The writing style was very good. Jem Wendel is very good at transporting the reader to the places. The pace is slow, it fits with the story and helps with feeling that you are there with them.

I like the characters,  but I didn't fall in love with them. (Except Estrella. She is a star in every sense. I enjoyed this kickass lady.)

I never thought that I would be a monster/paranormal romance girly. But then you get amazing writers like Lily Mayne, Nik Knight and Fae Quin and you just have to accept a new unlocked part of yourself.

So, join me in exploring a new world. Settle yourself in your reading nest and read: 'I'm not your pet' by Fae Quin.

"I gotta be honest, when I was accepted into Harvard at the end of my senior year of high school, I never once expected it. I'd end up here, a Galaxy far away, contemplating sucking squishy pink alien dick."

Wow. What an opening line.
I was content-warned about sexual slavery and space strip clubs. A bit startling to get exactly what I was promised. (Don't worry, this is a happy read!)

Roark is a captain on a spaceship.  He encounters this peach coloured creature that looks lonely. This creature, a huu-man, is very interesting. Like how curious that he leakes when he is sad. Roark can't leave him there, and even though purchasing a person is abhorrent, he buys him to free him.
Back on the ship, things are not going smoothly.

-"Yew muhthehrfuhker," he hissed out stomping around the room, his tiny body stiff. I could not for the life of me understand what he was upset about. I have done everything the "How to care for an Earthling" pamphlet had told me to do today. He was fed, watered, clothed. I've been gentle with him. Fed him treats petted him. What else could he possibly need?-

Uhm, it turns out that Hugo doesn't want to be treated like a pet. Whoops.

Reading this book was sweet and joyful. I felt the wonder and joy of the characters like it was my own.
Roark and Hugo are sweet, resilient and strong. The way they find each other, makes this a top comfort book for me.
I know I keep saying it is sweet, but never too sweet nor does it stay surface level. The pacing worked perfectly for me. The plot is excellent. Character growth,  yes! It is delightful read!

It came out yesterday! So get your claws, talons or hands on it and enjoy!

Ren captured my heart straight away.  He is a nerd and a little weird. At least, that is what people are always telling him.
For a college assignment, he is going to work together with Maddox.  Maddox is a jock, a part of the swimming team.
An emotional little fire cracker in a place where that is frowned upon. He has some things to unpack.  Internalised homophobia is not cool, bro.

I read this book in one go. I was invested. The story has more than just romance.  They have their own lives and own stuff that is going on.  The side characters were fleshed out too. I want to know and read more of them!

If you like Saxon James,  Eden Finley,  Rachel Reid, go check this book out!

Dire Straights is a guaranteed HEA dual 1st POV college romance featuring double bi-awakening, jock/nerd, grumpy/sunshine, lots of fluff and spice, and an oddball group of friends.

Too many beds by various authors.

If you read a lot of romance books,  you have heard of the one bed trope. Well, this is the opposite! The results are ten contemporary, fantasy, science-fiction, historical, and paranormal stories.

The first one by Marie Reynard,  shows me why I don't like short stories.  I just want more! I want to know what happens next. I am a total sucker for the Matehub universe.  It's so much fun! Storm and Ryder have so much chemistry!

The next story by L. Eveland lets me know I'm unreliable in the best way. Now I'm all like:  I love anthology! It is like a tasting plate of stories.
I haven't read their stories before. This story has a lot of layers that I'm unfamiliar with,  but it just gives it depth without me feeling lost.
This story is dark and HOT. "I don't just wanna f*** y**, Jasper," he growled, and let go of my left arm to close a hand tightly around my throat. "I want to wreck you, hold you down and make you beg. I want to mark you as mine, ruin you for anyone else."
I am hungry for more! Off to Amazon to get my grabby little raccoon paws on their backlist.

Next... I can't get into the story.  The sentences are too long for me. And the beauty of a story collection,  you can leave it. I will do the same in this review. I will highlight the ones that I love the most.
Special mini shout out for the space mmmm smut. Great Trans representation.

Below the Beds by F.A. Lantern; a paranormal romance about a boy and the monster under his bed.
My heart. It is a short story,  but everything is in it.  Dark and gritty and right in my feels.
An other author that I need to add onto my ever growing tbr.

The Last Bed by Jessica A. McMinn
Wow, she can write. My overstimulated adhd brain, couldn't focus on anything... until this story. Enthralled,  hooked, and intensly emerged in the story.
Taking toxic relationships to the next level.  I need the whole story.  Neeeed!

If you are like me, a size queen, like big books and cannot lie, do yourself a big favour and pick this up anyway. You will find your next love in this charcuterie of stories.

This is book 2 in The Passing Through Cafe series.  It can be read as a standalone,  but why would you want to do that when book 1, Passing Through Purgatory, is awesome?! That book had me laughing and giggling!

It was a joy to be reunited with all the characters.  I missed their funny, snarky, sweet banter. I couldn't wait to get to know them better. You see, Nik Knight is incredible with writing layered characters with histories. As a reader, you get glimpses. Not everything is revealed. It gives depth to the story and the characters. It leaves me wanting more in the best way.

This time, the spotlight is on these two.
Toni is a demon with fins (and 2 dicks).
He meets Jude, a human (with a choose-your-own-adventure collection of detachable dicks).
When Jude smiles, it makes Toni feel things. And not just dick things. Other things,  like feeling things.

I know that is a lot of dick talk, but please don't let me mislead you.  This is about best friends, coworkers and family. It is unfolding the layers of expectation and being true to who you are.  Some people will reject you whilst others will embrace you.  How vulnerable that is.  Toni and Jude both have ways/behaviours that are fueled by the need to be safe instead of seeking connection.
My heart ached a couple of times.  They are not perfect beings, but they are very lovable.

They find their happy ever after. But, there is also a lot happening with their friends. Even though this is a perfect story on its own, I need the next book now! I love this world and this awesome pod of found family.

I loved the first part of the book. I loved the characters, could connect, saw myself represented. It made me laugh. I thought that this book could be 5 stars.
But then it lost me. It got repetitive. It didn't hit that next layer that I longed for. The story and background was very promising,  but it didn't deliver it for me.
It just had a lot of twitching 'eggplants'.

"I didn’t know the guy I picked up in the bar last night was Hero’s son. To be fair, he didn’t even know he had a son until today. Keeping my hands off of Milo is hard enough thanks to his lickable dimple, flirty smiles, and virgin skin. But I swear this has to be a test. Why else would Hero insist that his son come to live with me? And why is it so hard for Milo to just keep his clothes on already?
If I can't keep my hands off of him I could lose my friends, our club, even the tattoo shop I love more than anything. Given the stakes, it should be easy."

Oh oh oh, poor Piston. He really tries to stay away, it made me giggle how difficult it got for him.  A blizzard even! What is the opposite of being 🐓 blocked? Whatever it is,  it is that!

I am a sucker for green flag men. Piston is a consent king.
The little chaos gremlin Milo was a joy to read. The ADHD representation gave me little pings of delight.
The thinky parts of my brain haven't actually caught up with whatever impulsive the goblin plan my subconscious has come up with yet, so I am not sure why it is so important that I freeze my balls off instead of waiting for Piston to come back inside, but it feels vital.

And not only them, but  the found family too. I want to read every single story about them!

And dear feral readers,  this story brings the heat. If you are into growly possessive men, this is a treat. There is an age gap,  but both are adults (the youngest being 28).

"Recently graduated at twenty-six, and two months behind on rent, Oliver Barnes is desperate. So desperate, in fact, that he applies for a job in the Greed district of Hell’s Pentagram. But when he misses his train and, subsequently, his job interview, he stumbles, instead, upon a strange little coffee shop in the middle of Purgatory’s barren desert—and into an unexpected opportunity."

MM low angst, happy ever after, romance. Written by a non binary author.

This book made me laugh! It was funny & joyful. The book whisked me easily into its world. Oliver is adorkable. It takes a while before he meets his love interest. Their story takes time to unfold, but is never slow.
His coworkers are interesting and diverse.  I am a sucker for found family, and they were all lovable. You get glimpses of their stories. There is depth there and I can't wait to read more!

This book isn't for you if you dislike paranormal dick(s) and spice.
