It was pretty good. I don't know exactly what I was expecting but it wasn't this. Not bad.

I liked it. It was not as happy as her two follow up books, but I liked that it was different from so much of the popular YA literature published nowadays. The characters were great. My heart just broke for the unfortunate situation Eleanor was in and her unfortunate family life. It is even more difficult when I think about other people in REAL life who are stuck in similar situations with that kind of life at home. It make me feel blessed about my life in comparison. There have been a lot of struggles in my life and I've often wished things were easier, but this story really put things in perspective for me.

I really enjoyed this book and found the aspects where mythology/religious beliefs of their society conflict with those of some of the jumpers to be particularly interesting. Their society's whole structure, creation story, and floating island thing is fascinating to me.
