Overall thoughts of the series, 4 stars. Books 2-4 were better than book one but the series as a whole is great. I read on kindle unlimited and will be buying physical copies.
DNF’d 100 pages in. Just could not get into it and I just didn’t care about the characters.
3.5-4 stars. It was totally cheesy but super cute. Loved how it addressed being a survivor of an abusive relationship, the struggles of women in stem, and racism, while also being a cute romcom
Ok I loved this way more than I expected. I didn’t pick up this book for so long because ex boyfriends dad is cringe. But honestly, I was easily able to ignore that red flag and that age gap didn’t bother me much. Ideally it would have been better if the MC was a little older but that seems to be a theme with age gap romances so I got over it, because pike is 10/10.
Character development was amazing and the MC’s had an actual healthy relationship which is always appreciated.

Character development was basically not existent. I really wasn’t rooting for the main couple because their relationship was hardly anything other than sex and the occasional conversation. I have no problem with smut but the main couple should at least have chemistry. The plot had potential but the execution was just not there. If romance is the main plot point but the relationship is hardly developed then there isn’t really much to enjoy. Super disappointing because I really like the authors A Touch of Darkness series but man this was not good.
