this book gripped me by the throat and would not unhand me for days after I finished it. I laughed, I sobbed. Molly is my baby I love and adore her so much. I loved the way the present and past were weaved together without feeling out of place. definitely one of my favorites of the year!
Moderate: Death, Car accident
Minor: Toxic relationship, War
this book genuinely shook me to my core. The concept is so unique and by the end I was looking for more because I just didn't want it to end. I usually struggle with slower paced books but I found myself devouring this book in one sitting. It's slow but not in a way that will bored you or lose your attention. Although none of my questions were answered, I kind of liked the ambiguity of it all because at the end of the day it doesn't really matter how they got there or why, but rather how they survived and the bonds they created. Just stunning, a book that will be with me forever
I am conflicted on this one. On one hand, I absolutely adore Alix Harrow's writing and find myself enamored by her ability to create beautiful and magical worlds within such mundane settings. I fell for the characters in this book and I think overall I enjoyed it. However, the pacing is a bit weird for me and I found that the weaving between point of views was harsh at first and I found myself skimming some of the first chapters. I also think I went in a little too excited after Starling House and was met with a story that wasn't as satisfying or compelling. I would read it again though!
