A fast read (since it only has a few chapters) but kinda slow for me because I couldn't relate with Hope. It would've been better if she also resolved her issue with her parents.

"There's no shame in loving someone with all your heart, Elena, but that love must be mutual. If you end up giving more of yourself than you get back, you'll end up a shell of yourself, depleted, like I was."

This is where I say Booktok made me read this. Am I disappointed? A bit. Did I enjoy reading it? Hmm, just quite.

The short chapters are the reason I ended up finishing this story. The plot is okay, cliche, but bearable because of the female lead. I don't like the writing style very much, it's kinda amateurish for me. It's like reading an unedited Wattpad story, and sorry, not sorry, but some Wattpad stories are better than this.

Some smut scenes made me cringe because of the male lead's lines, they're repetitive and exhausting to read. The saving grace of this story is Elena, she's headstrong and resilient, and she deserves all the love in the world for sacrificing everything she has for her mother. And don't make me start with Alexander/Alec. The guy is one of the most indecisive male leads I've read, and no, I tried to love him, but NO, he's a walking red flag, and his groveling at the end isn't enough.

Would I recommend it? Maybe.
Would I re-read it again? Definitely not.

"We were already so much more than a number on a piece of paper. And if you'd come to me, you would have had someone in your corner, ready to fight anyone who hurt you. Ready to fight for you."

Highly recommended for those who loved The Love Hypothesis

It took me quite a while to finish this book, but it's not because I didn't like it, it's more like my responsibilities smacked me in the face the past few days.

I loved almost all the characters in this book, except for Jess' mom because she's ugh. Jess and River are adorable. Despite being forced into fake dating, there's this undeniable connection between them. Their chemistry, banters, and tension are all chef's kiss. And there's Felicity/Fizzy! This crackhead writer bestie of Jess is so lovable! Every time she drops a line, I end up laughing out loud. And the scene at the ending, where Jess and River are trying to fix things between them, and Fizzy is just there watching them over Zoom call got me rolling in laughter and embarrassment.

All in all, it's a fun read. I enjoyed every moment. Would've rated it 5 stars if only we get to see more of River's backstory.

"I am. I’m very much attached to you, Lottie. I don’t know how you did it, but I’m addicted. You’re not going anywhere."

After reading how chaotic Lottie was in the first pages, I already knew that I'm in for a rollercoaster ride with this book. The banter, the tension, the secondhand embarrassments, and, of course, the SMUT; they're all amazing! I can't count how many times I laughed out loud and covered my face because of how embarrassed I was with Lottie.

This is perfect for readers who love Tessa Bailey's works.

"I'd started my summer wanting to become someone else. Someone cooler. Someone braver. But I hadn't become someone else-I'd become myself, but better. Myself, but a bit more at peace with it."

This took me quite some time to get into, but I never expected to like it. And the fact that it made me tear up a bit on that ending says something about the book.

I love the development of the story, especially the main characters, Waverly and Blake. Blake's journey in accepting his stepmom, and Waverly's journey to finding out what she wants and realizing that she doesn't need to be good in anything to be accepted. I also love the romance between Blake and Waverly, reminds me of those teen flicks I love to binge-watch.

I highly recommend this to those who like to read something light, no-spice, and love to add some YA Romance to their TBR.
