When I was little, Snow White was my favorite Disney princess, so I was thrilled to be an ARC reader for this latest Snow White retelling. And wow, it blew me away!

This isn’t your typical Snow White story. The queendom is ruled by queer queens, the hunter is a woman, the man in the mirror isn’t the wicked face we remember, the dwarves aren’t actually dwarves, and Snow White? She’s Black and has magical powers !

This has quickly become one of my favorite retellings. The story is fast-paced, and you’ll feel the urge to finish it in one sitting because it’s that gripping and keeps you on the edge till the end. Nova is my favorite character, and I can’t even talk about him without giving away spoilers!

If you’re into fantasy, fairytale retellings, and strong female main characters, this book is a must-read!

The Girl From Colombia by Julián Rodríguez

This book starts with an 8 year old girl attempting to murder her adoptive father. But why she feels that way is still a secret, keeping you hooked and eager to find out more. This first chapter itself made me finish the book in one sitting. ( it has less than 200 pages )

The narrative traces Isabel's journey from Colombia to New York in the 1880s, where she is taken by a wealthy foreigner. As the main story unfolds, we see Isabel as an adult living a solitary existence. However, things take a dramatic turn when the real son of her ruthless adoptive father falls in love with her, despite being engaged to her best friend.

The entire story was twisted yet filled with mystery, angst, and forbidden love. It moved at a brisk pace and had dual timeline narration.

Last year, I attempted to connect with "Daisy Jones and The Six" but couldn't because I found the narrative style uninteresting. However, I recently decided to give it another shot and ended up thinking, "How else could this have been narrated?" I fell in love with it and even annotated some beautiful quotes.

"Daisy Jones and The Six" is written as a series of interviews about the once-famous band, mysteriously disbanded. It took me some time to get used to the narrative style, but the story itself was beautiful, remarkable, and filled with unique quotes that captured my heart.

"How'd you know what kind of beer I like?"🤨

"Well, I just picked something I'd probably hate," she said. 💁

"Losing My Breath" is a delightful rom-com brimming with witty banter, healing, and love. Callan, an ex-marine battling PTSD, shields himself from emotions until he meets the prissy fairy princes, Meridian, his polar opposite. I love how this book captures the message that dealing with trauma isn't always a solitary journey. It reminds us of the importance of finding the courage to seek help, not just for ourselves but also for the people we care about and who care about us.

When I realized that death is the narrator of the story , I knew this book would break me into pieces. And yes, this book shattered me in every possible way, yet somehow, I found myself deeply enamored with it. I have a bittersweet  love-hate relationship with this story, and that's what makes it so compelling to me.

While this may be historical fiction, it's widely understood that Liesel's story is not just her story, but rather representative of the countless individuals who endured the hardships of wartime.  It took me around a month to finish the book as I slowly devoured each word like a form of meditation.

The narrative style, the little stories woven throughout, the remarkable quotes—everything about the book captivated me from beginning to end. And I have no words to express how much I am affected and haunted by The Book Thief.
