okay, i went into this without even reading the description. i am utterly flabbergasted at the FMC. immediately i loved her. and it didn't take me long to love him either.

can't wait to see these two in the next crowns of nyaxia series books!

it was almost as beautiful as six scorched roses, just in a different sense.

Percy Jackson meets a cross between the Torre Cesme and the witches from Throne of Glass. Add romance between the god who cursed all witches and a witch who heals despite the death sentence it entails.

Over-simplified description that touches on the vibes only. However, great book. I enjoyed the plot and the MMC. The FMC is not my favorite. She allows others to walk all over her and can't hold her own. I can see the potential for her though, don't always judge a series by the first book!

gah, Kindle Unlimited tells me the second book isn't available until June 5th, 2025...

i cannot believe this is the last book of all the series. i will miss the adventures for sure. can't wait to read Never Keep when it comes out.

alright, let's dive in.

going from those long ZA books to DP was hard. i always wanted more. and that's exactly what i have to say with this book. you can tell it's rushed, normally more bad things would happen and more heartbreak.

this isn't a bad book because of it, but i really wish we could have seen some things more in-depth.

like i would have loved more Sin/Max/Tiberius. i would have also loved to see more of the battles and a longer scene of Sin and Rosa becoming mated, like in RB. i also am shocked by how little spice is in this book compared to literally all their other books.

i do think it was fitting that Rosa didn't birth any kids, but found them and took them in. it totally speaks to her character. i also love that Sin is actually a really good dad despite his ways.

also super cute to see Cain settle down and be a good dad too. despite all the horrors he also saw from his childhood.

gosh Hastings reminded me of Xavier so much. i love when the twisted sisters write such unlucky characters, it makes me laugh harder than i should!

favorite quote:

“Faster maybe, but speed doesn’t equal skill,” Cain clipped.

"You sound like my old professor, and he was always such a sore loser too,” Hornrider said, his grin only widening.

"Nice name by the way,” I commented and his casual smile dropped a little.

“Someone else signed me up when I first came here and you can’t change it once it’s assigned,” he grumbled.

the beginning was slow, but that's to be expected considering most books start out that way. once i was in though, i was IN.

this is such an interesting concept. and i always love a touch of madness to the MCs.

i wasn't expecting the ending, i figured we wouldn't see the takeover until book 2. but it makes sense. can't wait to see what happens with the twin alders card.

however, i have so many questions. i thought he didn't have the card to begin with, but now we know he hid it. interesting, interesting.

So, I did like it. But I'm also not super impressed.

Going into it, I expected it to be a little different than it was. Everything happened right away and then nothing happened for a while. I did enjoy the murder mystery portion of it, but it didn't last long it seemed.

The epilogue was disappointing, I'm sad that we won't get to see the Koen and Serena relationship.

Wow. Just WOW.

What a beautiful book. The heartache alone is astonishing. I can't believe how well this book was able to pull on my heartstrings.

You can literally feel the years of Anna's life, her love, her anger and her will. I don't have children but her and Piers hit me so hard. And the reunion of her family later. It touched on so many hard parts of history and yet it did so in a memorable way, especially for a fiction book.

And this is what I mean when I say I want slow burn, it's not in terms of the length of the book, but the time. I kept expecting it within the first 100 pages or so and it didn't come. Hundreds and hundreds of years in the development! And it still kept me invested, sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for the first kiss.

oh my gosh. i really enjoyed this book!

the twist at the end was absolutely insane. i can't believe i have to wait so long for the next book, i hope we get some conclusion in it like we did with the first book showing up in the second.

i was rooting for the one Verity felt a spark with but now i'm so conflicted!!!
