Jack's father Bob created the exciting world of Iri and now he's gone. Suddenly, the characters from Iri are in the human world and they need Jack's help to save Iri. But is Jack up to the task?
This book was a mixed bag for me. I really enjoyed the overall plot of the book as it concerned Iri but I thought that it was incredibly lacking when it came to Jack and Bob's relationship. I just wanted those parts to end. It also felt like this book dragged on for a really long time for what is essentially a fetch quest. Maybe I didn't like this book as much because I haven't watched all the movies that inspired it but I thought that overall, it was just subpar. All the characters but our main character were super interesting though and I wanted more time spent on Iri and less on Jack.
Overall, a really interesting mix of fantasy and horror.

I really liked the characters in this book and the characterization was fantastic, especially for a middle-grade novel. The plot was also super interesting and I hope that each book travels to a different city because that would be really interesting. The only thing that I didn't like in this book was the amount of times that Harry Potter was mentioned. I understand that Edinburgh and Harry Potter have a significant connection but it just took me out of the story every time.
Overall though, really amazing read. Definitely going to continue this series.

When fourteen people are asked to participate in a game of Hide and Seek for a cash prize, why would they say no? But maybe the seeker isn't even human and the fourteen people are thrown into something bigger than anything they ever imagined.
I really liked the premise of this book. A Hide and Seek game in an abandoned amusement park with a dark twist sounds really cool. But I thought that this book started off really slowly. Nobody realizes anything is wrong until the middle of the third day(there are six days). The characters that were left were pretty fleshed out but I wanted more about all the different characters than just the ones who lived.
Overall, it was kind of slow and the characterization for some characters was lacking but it was a pretty good horror book.

This book gives me such weird mythology vibes. Kind of like Pan's Labyrinth in a way. The characters are amazingly written and so compelling. The world-building is strange and wonderful. The plot is super interesting. It's unsettling in a great way.

This book switches between past and present for about fifty percent of the book while the rest of the book is in the present. It just felt really weird to stop going back into the past especially when that plot line was unfinished.
Overall, an extremely creepy read. Definitely, recommend for spooky season.

This story is a little bit different from the movie, but in my opinion, it's not less enjoyable. The characters were really interesting, especially with how they each explored a little bit about what it means to be someone who works in the underworld. It was a pretty silly story overall but it did have some really interesting parts and I would definitely recommend giving this a read!
