This book was different from most things that I've read before. That's not totally a good thing. Firstly, the characters are really fleshed out. The interactions between characters were really interesting and I thought it was done well.
On to the romance, I thought that the romance in this book was kind of forced. It seemed like the two main characters hated each other then one just decided to like the other one. There didn't seem to be much of a change in the one character for her to begin to like the male lead that much.
Now for the worldbuilding. There really isn't any. We get info dumps several times in the book to explain the Old Gods and the New Gods along with why the drudges showed up. But besides that we get no information about how the world works, politics-wise, and we don't get much information about what the gods actually do. I just didn't feel like the world was that explained and I felt confused most of the time. The world building just wasn't there for me.
The characters were the shining stars of this book.

A bride and a groom are dead on the floor of their bedroom. All ways in or out locked up tight. A Katana in the gleaming snow. How will this mystery unfold?
This book was super short, a little under two hundred pages. I thought that that was almost a detriment to the story. I wanted to hear more about all of the characters. The way this author describes characters is exciting. I also liked the way that the mystery was solved. It was so grandiose that I never would have seen it coming. I'm excited to read more of this author's works!

This book was horrible. I thought this was going to be about a young woman who is thrust into politics and is fighting for the throne. Instead, I got a weird amalgamation of half-baked science fiction and incestual gods. The main character is about as interesting as watching paint dry. The world-building is nonexistent. The rest of the characters are no better. This could have been a brilliant book about how love makes us complete but no it's just about sex. Honestly, why push the point that the gods are siblings if you are going to make their whole relationship just about sex? It's gross. Do you know what else is gross, pushing that this god character is fundamentally a child and then referencing people having sex with said child? Honestly, I don't know how I pushed my way through this. It was terrible. Maybe some people will like it but it just wasn't my cup of tea. I will probably not be reading anything else by this author.

Maeve Fly works as a princess at a theme park. She loves her life as it is but when her grandmother gets sick and her best friend gets a big break in her acting career. Now Maeve Fly's life is crumbling around her.
How can a book this disturbing make me want to sob like a little baby? I think that a very specific set of people will really enjoy this book and I think that most people will not. The main character is not a good person, she does things and says things that are fundamentally wrong. But I honestly really enjoyed that. It's gross and it's disgusting but it discusses a lot about codependent relationships, finding your true self, and having someone know you truly. Overall, I thought that the characters were really interesting and the plot was super intriguing.

Benny, Nix, Chong, and Lilah are still reeling from grief. That's when they meet the Reapers, a cult obsessed with death. Now the group is forced to protect themselves.
I absolutely love this world and this book has just expanded on that world. The characters are still amazing and are getting more depth with each book. I didn't like the end of this book, however. I want to see where it goes in the next book but the end of the book made me mad. I won't spoil it but urgh. I will definitely finish this series. I just want to know what happens!

A missing tutor and a young girl who believes that she can find her.
This book was really interesting. The way the setting was described was super well and I felt like I was there. The characters were also super interesting. They felt like real people. I will say that I didn't really like the ages of the people in the book. It felt to me like the ages didn't fit the way that the characters acted. The mystery was also really interesting. Overall, it was a really good book.
