Tell Me How You Really Feel by Aminah Mae Safi
3.0
I liked most everything about this book. The only this is that I wish some parts would have been clearer. Some parts were the classic where the girls go off by themselves or something like that and I’m sitting here like ‘where are the parents in all of this?’ Also, I didn’t so much like the cheerleading aspect. I don;t know exactly why, it just didn’t sit well with me. Other than that it was a very good book. The two characters turned out to be very cute with each other.

I was very excited about this when it came out. I breezed through it and absolutely could not get enough. Thankfully, before this I was able to read some other star wars books, because a lot of characters from there were brought into here. Seeing some of my favorite characters was a delight. They would appear one page and I would get so happy. Sadly, I was just hoping that it would contain more that would contribute to the new movie. I feel like it did help fill in some gaps, but I was hoping for a bit better transition. Still, so happy I did not miss reading this.

This was not what I was expecting when I was going to pick up this book, it was so much better. I cannot believe how much I enjoyed this book. It is so incredibly complicated in the best way. Each character is woven together throughout history and it makes for such an interesting storyline and universe. Unquestionably, this book is for mature audiences. However, if you can handle it and you want to read it. I would say go ahead. I really enjoy figuring out all I can about Westeros.

It was so cute and queer in the best of ways. I cannot tell you how great this book was. There were so many parts I enjoyed. Throughout the book I could not stop obsessing over each of the characters. I got to meet the author and I wish I could go back and tell her how amazing this book really was. I mended and tore at my fragile little heart and I couldn’t have asked for better. Also could someone please just jump into the book and give Nathanial a hug? He needs it.

I had way too much fun reading this book. I could not stop laughing because I found Louise to be such a fun character. Also one of my most favorite relationship dynamics is the hate to love kind. With the two main love interests being a witch and a chasseur (SUPER religious witch hunter) this book had all of that in here. I just loved it so much. Now I can’t wait until the second book comes out!
The Shallows: What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains by Nicholas Carr

I normally don’t like nonfiction books, so it was not a surprise I did not like this one. It was just so boring. Each chapter proved almost nothing that had to do with the internet. Then it was just evidence after evidence. Study after study with almost no narration or explanation in between. All the information made it really hard to get through because eventually your brain would shut down and you’d just be reading the words mindlessly. It took so long to get through even one page. Thank goodness our teacher told us we did not have to read every chapter. It lifted a small weight of our burden.

Surprisingly, I am absolutely loving this series. The fact that it is just so complicated and intertwined draws me in like nothing else. Each book takes so long to get through, but it is all worth it in the end. I really enjoy it and as I read more and more of George Martins writing it gets easier to understand and comprehend. Therefore I am starting to finish chapters faster and laugh at some small jokes that are scattered throughout the books. Reading them also helps when I watch the show. Yes, I am watching the show only after I read each book. If I was not reading the books, I can tell I would be very confused by a lot of the scenes in the show. Really, the books are actually pretty amazing.

Magnus and Alec are sooo cute. My little babies totally deserved a book of their own. It was so good and so frustrating. Every time they tried to have just a little time to themselves trouble would start up again. I hated it, but it totally added to the story. Especially because Alec is a shadowhunter so he feels like its his duty to go off and save everyone. The book was very adorable and full of love.

I am in love! Or should I say a certain two force people are sooo incredibly IN LOVE!!!!!! WHY DID IT HAVE TO END LIKE THAT! I don’t want to complain about this book, but that ending is just one thing I can’t stand. You know. Sometimes people just deserve to live happily ever after and ride off into the sunset. Otherwise I love this book/movie so much. In so many ways it was satisfying and beautiful. Each scene plays out just like the movie, but with more information. A lot of things in the book were not shown on screen. AND I CANNOT HOLD IN MY EMOTIONS RIGHT NOW!!!! AHHHHH!!!!! Okay, but seriously if Reylo was not a thing, I don’t even know if I would be THIS excited right now!!! AHHHHH!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!

Simply put this book was a developed fantasy that went way beyond the pages. But I am not simple. This book was pretty good. The plot and politics were well developed and I felt like it was a history of my own world that I was reading. It was a little hard to keep the characters straight but that is because all the families and people were so intertwined with one another. It made for a few interesting plot points in the story. I would recommend it to all fantasy lovers but be ready to invest in the book because you will need to be if you want any hope of keeping it all straight.
