Not one of my fave reads, couldn’t care less about the narrator’s perspective.

Read this when I was a kid, prob wouldn’t like it now as an adult but that’s okay - it’s meant for kids.

I can’t stand this book, but I guess that’s the point you’re not meant to like the main character. However it just feels unnecessary - meh

It’s a classic, not gonna give it a high rating but it is a great story.

I read this when I was in middle school - I really liked it then. Haven’t re-read it as an adult so I don’t think it’s fair to give it a five star review.

I ate this book up, which isn’t a good thing or a bad thing. The book was very simple, the plot nor the writing was too complex. Which isn’t a good or bad thing, I believe this book is a good one to get someone out of a slump. I think the premise was good, and the story flowed well. I think it could’ve been fleshed out better, but I liked the way it ended. I know this is the writers first book, so I’m hopeful that their writing will get better.

I’m weeping while writing this review of it gives you any indication - this was so good from start to finish. God you gotta love a good tragedy.

After finishing this book I was very emotional so I waited to write this review - I still really enjoyed this read. It’s a historical fiction so the pacing is very slow but I think that made the ending that much more impactful. It really highlighted how everything in one’s life can just change at the flip of a hat. There were points in this book where I was mad at every character, which I don’t hate because I prefer realistic characters over characters who are always perfect and well thought out. To have them make mistakes and make bad decisions, makes them more human. I didn’t like the emphasis on how beautiful the characters were, it felt unnecessary to the plot. Same with the love plot points, I think the story would have been just as impactful without it. Nevertheless, it was a beautiful tale of sisterhood, family dynamics, and the indomitable human spirit.
