Super informative with great exercises to help identify within yourself and within others emotional maturity vs immaturity. Great for discussing with therapists and understanding why you might do or say certain things.
I learned a lot about myself from this book and it helped me a lot. Def rec to others.

I received an advance copy in return for my review.
really wanted to like this read as it was my first LGTBQ+ novel(la) but this left so much to be desired.
This could have been incredible as a full-length novel and I wish the author would have devoted more time to developing the relationship between the mcs, deepened the plot between the vase seekers and the relationships with other characters.
The story itself is adorable and I loved the characters at the surface. They all had a lot of potential to be great, even the antagonists. The impression I was left with was an underdeveloped story that focuses more on the smut aspect of the story than building the connections of the characters.
I felt only mildly connected to the characters and I wanted to get to know them more through the ways they interacted with the world. The descriptions just didn’t support that and that connection was lost.
If the point was to write some monster smut to be enjoyed at a surface-level, this is a good quick-read. I finished it in about 2 hours. If a reader is looking for more, I would suggest something else.
I hope the author decides to take on a larger project or turn these smaller stories into full length novels. There’s a ton of potential here.

This taught me a lot about how racism is within our systems and how they negatively affect marginalized populations. I appreciated how informed the writing was and the introduction that ties the book’s themes to modern challenges makes this easily relatable if you paid attention to the news at all in the last 10 years.
Solid read that added a lot of context to my perspective. Highly recommend.

I received my copy for free in exchange for my review.
It took me FOREVER but I finally finished this book.
I really enjoyed this one. The characters had really strong development and I thought the world building was solid. I found it a bit slow in the beginning, but October, the author, created a setting that was easy to follow and understand for the rest of the story.
I enjoyed Mila’s self-discovery journey and Thislen’s redemption. I was genuinely surprised by a few parts and found myself wincing like the characters would. I was also glad to see that romance was not a theme in this book because that could have easily been the case and I appreciated that as a deviation from my usual themes.
I found sometimes that the story did more telling than showing, but it’s not unnatural, nor does it break the immersion of the story, which I really appreciated.
Overall, this is a great novel and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is into fantasy or looking for something totally different than their typical wheelhouse.

I loved this one 😭
The escapism was real for this one and I enjoyed the happy ending. They deserved it and I read for the SCANDALOUS vibes.
Solid, entertaining, sexy, and fun read.

The books storytelling and execution were very well-done. I appreciated the rotating perspectives and how each character saw a different side of Ansel, including Ansel himself. I found it interesting that there’s an element of redemption for some of the characters and a stark lack for others. It really feels like the darker side of life, where things aren’t fair and not everyone gets their happily ever after.
This book is not for the faint of heart. It is deeply triggering and is depressing at times. The narration paints a grey setting with very few lighthearted points in the plot. It needs a heavy trigger warning. I need a much lighter read after this one 😅

Enjoyed the mystery aspect and the whole novel. Storytelling was great but I found myself confused sometimes as to whether or not our MC was having a dream or she was experiencing reality. Also confusing sometimes when the narrator switched the perspectives of Opal and Arthur but that may have been just the audiobook component. Enjoyed this novel overall though and it was quite the switch up from my normal lineup and I’m happy I picked this one up!

Felt too juvenile for me with the protagonist almost too immature. I wanted to like this book but there wasn’t a lot happening or communication between our main characters. I also wanted to dive into some other reads instead.

I love this book and how the author talks about how complicated parental relationships can be. I appreciated her perspective and found myself crying at one point. The writing flows nicely and the talk about dealing with grief and how she reconnected with her family and Korean identity is really beautiful. Truly a stellar book. I have nothing negative to say about it.
