The First Day of Spring by Nancy Tucker

Books don't make me cry.
This book made me cry.

The chapters alternate between past and present dropping pieces of the puzzle throughout.
Then everything comes together at the end.

This is definitely a YA novel, and some parts are predictable.
But it still held my interest, and I couldn't listen through it fast enough!

I'm honestly quite embarrassed by how sucked into this series I've become. 😂

If you liked Crave, you'll love Crush. And if you didn't like Crave, then I don't know why you're bothering to read a review of the 2nd book in the series.
Different, Not Less: A Neurodivergent's Guide to Embracing Your True Self and Finding Your Happily Ever After by Chloé Hayden

I read this book as part of a book club that focuses on books about autism and/or written by autistic authors, but I took an extra personal interest in it due to having ADHD.

Chloé does a phenomenal job of describing some of thing that happen in my brain. She also wonderfully describes some very heavy topics by using humor throughout the book.

This would be an excellent book for any neurodivergent teenager/young adult and their "sidekicks" to read to gain a better understanding of themselves and their differences.

I don't enjoy romance, and fantasy books aren't my favorite but a lot of my friends recommended I read this book. I didn't think I would like it, and for first two thirds of the book, I really didn't care about any of the characters and just wanted the story to be done so I could move on with my life. It was very predictable and boring.
It felt like I was reliving my high school days as a Twilight fan.

But then -minor spoiler-
dragons
are mentioned. And I realized this series is not a copy cat of Twilight. I could not finish the last third of this book fast enough so I could move on to the second book of the series!
My Darling Husband by Kimberly Belle

This was a great read!
It goes back and forth between the perspective of a husband who has been keeping some pretty big secrets, his wife who's being held hostage in their home with their children, and occasionally the man who's holding them hostage. It also goes back and forth between an interview the husband does and the day of the hostage situation.

The intensity at the end of the book kept me up way past my bedtime! Some people didn't like the ambiguity at the very end, but sometimes it's better to not have all the answers.
The Bad Weather Friend by Dean Koontz

3.5

This book started off great! It held my attention and I definitely stayed up way later than I should have reading it on more than one occasion.
It goes back and forth between present day and the main character, Benny's childhood. The new information we learn through flashbacks isn't incorporated into the present storyline until after we've learned it. There were a lot of phenomenal quotes I saved throughout the story including a few related to the environment and the current carbon craze.

I definitely did NOT see the ending coming....mostly because it was incredibly mediocre compared with the rest of the book.

The storyline had SOOOO much potential, then it's like Koontz just stopped putting effort into the story because he was nearing a deadline. There were extra details in places where they weren't needed, and then at the end when you wanted to have more to read, things were just skimmed over.

Part of me is wondering if this wasn't like one of the super complicated books we read in my high school AP English class where there's some sort of symbolism I'm missing...

Overall The Bad Weather Friend wasn't a terrible book, but it definitely was not the "twisty new thriller" it was marketed to be.
The Middle Finger Project: Trash Your Imposter Syndrome and Live the Unf*ckwithable Life You Deserve by Ash Ambirge

Wow. Just WOW! 🚨Warning-this book will definitely not be for everyone because Ash swears. A lot.
But if that doesn't bother you and you're sick of feeling like an imposter and ready to live your best life, then I cannot recommend this book enough! Especially if you're a business owner.

The Middle Finger Project made me realize I've overcome a LOT of imposter syndrome BS already in my life and helped open my eyes to other mindset shifts I can make to "live the unf*ckwithable life" I deserve!

This book started out with HUGE potential...and then just kind of dwindled down to a disappointing ending.

It wasn't terrible, and I don't regret reading it, but there could have been so much MORE to it.
