MAN I really love this graphic novel series so much. I really appreciate that between each chapter, there’s always some narration from Hazel before jumping back into the story. It really adds to the effect of her story telling and I love and appreciate it so much. Even more so, I love how powerful the women in this are. Marko’s mom, Klara, makes a great point of saying “We’re soldiers, not damsels in distress” AND I LOOOVEEE that line. I continue to be impressed by the quality of the story and the character arcs! And I love Ghüs so much.

This was probably one of the coolest things I’ve read in a while! DEF adult graphic novel, but theres so many plot lines and great advances! Seriously just SO good, AND the art style is amazing! Honestly wow!!

This is literally the sweetest little graphic novel I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. Genuinely my heart is just so happy, and although its a super quick read, would highly recommend!

The art is beautifully done, and it’s all so soft and my heart is so full. Will definitely reread when I want something to just make me melt.

not too keen of this one, ngl. i didnt really care for the stories or the plot line of the “side” characters. i read through archie and jugheads and i couldnt handle the betty and veronica one. maybe my mindset from the show is effecting my opinion, but wasnt the biggest fan

Rearead 3/17/19: I don't hate the open ended the conclusion was this time around because it left me really hopeful for whatever came next in Cath's life. My heart was genuinely so full listening to it this time around, and I really needed a little light hearted love in my bookish life right now. It's definitely looking like more of a 4.0-4.5/5 instead of 5/5, but still fantastic nonetheless.

Original Read:
I’m... wow??? This book was such a surprise because I wasn’t expecting to like it at all really.

The ending was literally my only main issue. I hate how open ended it was cause it left me feeling a little flat.

Some things that stood out to me:
⁃When their dad goes manic, you get a great view into the mindset of the fear that comes along with it being ‘in her DNA’
⁃I cant judge the mental health aspect of it, but it was really interesting to see the family view of Cath and Wren with their dad
⁃Cath sometimes threw me off with how unwilling she was to let go of certain things like with Wren and her mom, but again, gave me new insight!
⁃Rowell has such a phenomenal way of drawing you in! i got so invested in Cath’s life and her state of mind, where she stood with Levi - I’m wowed.
⁃“You can park your snark at the gate, Omaha” ALRIGHT LEVI
⁃I like that regardless of Levi’s involvement, the story is still about Cath << !!!

Overall, a fantastic read that had me seriously emotionally invested for these characters and their development. AND A ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR OUR GIRL CATH FOR SENDING NICK HOME. Peace out my dude!

I have been aggressively singing "Carry On My Wayward Son" by Kansas since yesterday, and I've made a point that if you don't sing this song at least once while reading the book, you did it wrong. I mean come on, the sequel is called Wayward Son.

Overall, this was a really interesting reading experience! I didn't expect myself to be so invested in the characters or the story line, and although Carry On was born through Fangirl, it is it's own entity entirely and I appreciate that so much! Like I said in my update, this was SO good to listen along to, but I definitely got a bit confused with how many times the POV would switch around. I think that was one of the most difficult parts of this story, but it had its purpose so I understand that!

And in typical Rainbow Rowell fashion, once love was out there, it was KNOWN. Love Simon and Baz, and cannot wait to see how their story developed in Wayward Son with the ending of this one!
