5 stars. Not overthinking it. It took me a whole month to read, but I don't regret reading the rest of it tonight. (February 8th)

Made me cry almost two times - I didn't understand why everyone told me it was sad until the third half of the book. Such a lovely piece. It brings light the travesty of the AIDS pandemic in the late 80s, and I feel like I've gained some sort of knowledge from it.

I'm grateful for my book club letting me keep both the first and second books. I'll treasure these for a while!

Still going back and forth between 4 to 5 stars --

Was definitely surprising and different from what I normally read, but because my club recommended the book so highly, it is a good book. It's deep and surprises you at the most incredible moments. It's thought-provoking and an interesting read. It's not something I'd think of approaching on my own, but I'm glad I read it.

Actual rating: 4.5

I feel like if I were a kid in middle school or high school, I would have given it 5 stars. However, as an adult, I can appreciate this book from an almost nostalgic sense.

What doesn't help the fact is I watched the movies (I know, I know), and I loved them (red flag? Here me out). I haven't watched the movies in years, but I took this book slower, and it was a nice read.

I enjoyed seeing Percy, Grover, and Annabeth go on their little adventure. I enjoyed the pacing, the battles (I hope you know what I'm referring to), and the ending still being similar to the movie (and prophecy). Chefs kiss.

Going from 3.5-4 (hey, my first "3" star book!)

Well, I kept devouring the book, so it was smooth in pacing. The world building is cool af, if you ignore that the land is literally England ☠️

Did make me cringe, has some controversial takes... Rhys doing that one thing (and his comments) brought it down to 3.5, so yeah. Tamlin, too. He's a walking red flag, so get ready for that, I guess. We stan Lucian, tho.

Do you love fantasy? Good book for that. Has some hot takes, though, so be careful. It's a little spice but not full-on spicy.

Spice Rating: 1-1.5 out of 5

I FINALLY FINISHED IT!! The ending. The last quarter of the book sold me for 5 stars. I cried no less than 5 times in this book, especially the end! The plot twists, the characters, the plot, UGH, it's so amazing!!

Sasha P. Smith is now an author I will do my best to follow because holy moly, I loved this series, I'm so proud of her and her work!

If you like angst, witchy vibes, or Paris, this is the book for you!!! Especially if you read the first book! That was such a great journey, and this was the first series I've fully read this year!

Thank you, Sasha, for this amazing series <33

Can't believe I read this to learn that lying is bad-

I have issues with this book, but I feel it would be too mean to put it here, so I'll discuss it with my book club. The ending was sweet, though.

Good things: mentioned asexuals, we love to see the bar hit in a novel about a teenage boy's... hornyness. (Yes, you read that right). I loved Lu and Albert (#TeamAlbert), especially when they clearly said not to rush into relationships (spoiler: he does, and it doesn't go well) - the message was okay too.

I might add the negatives after my book club meeting if I remember, and I can gain the courage. But yeah, lying is bad, kids, and today I learned miscommunication trope is meh for me.

Final verdict: This book was... okay, I guess.

GOSH THIS BOOK ❤️
It's so fluffy sweet, and I love Hector going to school for baking! I love Ari for wanting to leave and finding out that's not the place for him to be, I love the art, I love the ending with the recipe and music.

This was just so sweet. How many more times can I say that? I'd 100% read this when I need a pick-me-up when/if I get the book for myself! The climax of the book too!!

Ugh, so good! I should have expected it but I didn't!! I'm glad everything worked out, though!!

Actual Rating: 4-4.5

I didn't expect the plot twist. I've seen mixed reviews, but maybe I was like Cady, and I didn't want to see what happened. The only reason this went down a bit is indeed the nouns as descriptors. It was confusing when Cady had an issue and your lead to believe it's something else entirely than migraines. Other than that, I like the plot. Beginning was slow, but I pretty much finished this book in one night.

Spoilers from this point on:
Where do I start. I have so many quotes I want to add to goodreads. Be a little kinder. I can't believe the Liars were dead that whole time. Was Cady hallucinating? How did they operate the boat and go to town? That meant she was by herself - and her mom had a right to worry. And the fact she was the one to come up with the idea to burn down that house and kill them. Yet she could never tell anyone.

This book is so interesting to think about now, though. I wonder if Granddad was to blame, or was it Cady.
