The Guest List’s storyline was intriguing - a remote island, a luxurious wedding, poor phone service, dark clouds, secrets, jealousy, and a dead body.
This book was a good remote island mystery, but in the end it was a middle-of-the-road read for me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good book but it didn’t knock me off my feet. And I don’t consider it a “bad” book either. It’s more of an in between for me!

OK. Can we talk about that ending?! Which absolutely did not feel like an ending??
I went in blind and was excited to see what the hype is all about! It took me a while to realize that there were actually 3 different timelines and each with a different POV. I knew it’d take me a minute to get a hang of everything, but almost 50% in and I was still confused
The synopsis of Near The Bone is what really intrigued me and made me want to read this book. The first few pages were very promising; the scene - a snowy mountain top where no one else but Mattie and her husband William lived. Then the immediate hint that William wasn’t a typical loving husband and is very abusive and controlling. And also finding paw prints of a mysterious, giant creature in the snow close to their cabin. The beginning was definitely quick to set the atmosphere.
But after reading more chapters, the story felt to be dragged out. There wasn’t much action, even after the creature resurfaced a couple times. This is supposedly a supernatural horror novel, I did not find anything horror-like in this book. The only supernatural thing is the mysterious creature, but sadly, not even the end reveals or explains what it is. The relationship between Mattie and her husband turned the book into a domestic mystery/thriller and the creature was just thrown into the story.
I felt the story to be weak and not well executed, and the synopsis seemed misleading. This one had a lot of potential. But there weren’t any explanations, the ending was very unsatisfactory, and frankly, most of the story just didn’t add up.

This was a definite wild ride and such a page turner!
Fast-paced, twisty, and creepy!
Wes has been staying at a motel while him and his wife are working through some issues. When Wes bumps into an old high school acquaintance who later offers him to stay at his place, you just know that something’s about to go wrong. Wes’ roommate starts acting super weird and you can feel the awkwardness. Elias starts to grow obsessed with Wes and wants to be his best friend.
This book screams obsession, stalker and psycho. I loved the twists in the end - Brody

This book had the right amount of mystery, suspense, and darkness! I loved how twisty this book was. In this story the main character, Rory Moore is a forensic reconstructionist with autism (LOVE the inclusion of ASD). She is also a strong and intelligent female lead. Rory unwillingly takes over a decades old cold case of a serial killer who her lawyer father represented before he passed away.
The story is told in multiple POVs and dual timelines. You need to pay close attention to the story to ensure you do not miss any hints or missing puzzle pieces. I was able to piece together one of the plot twists halfway through the book and the execution of the big plot in the end was a bit questionable, but I still enjoyed this quick, compelling read!

“You are a psychopath!” - “Yes, I am!”
The beginning of Freak gave me Orange Is The New Black vibes!! And I loved how the story of Creep continues on in this book with the same characters, while also referring to previous events. Creep and Freak are definitely tied together, so I’d recommend starting with Creep! I loved how entertaining this book was! Fast paced and thrilling

Where I Left Her tells the story of a mom doing everything in her power to find her daughter who disappeared after being dropped off at her friend’s house. This domestic suspense read is filled with secrets and lies. Whitney, Amelia’s mom, has been keeping secrets since the day her daughter was born.
The beginning started out well, it jumped right into the last few moments Whitney had with Amelia as she was on her way to drop her off. The story seemed to develop pretty quick up until about 20% in and it started to drag and sound repetitive. It was too detailed. The story picked up towards the end where the truth about Whitney’s lies came out.
Where I Left Her had so much potential. I did enjoy the ending but it was lacking depth in many areas. It was an “ok” read, I just wished there was more suspense involved.
