Very much loved the mystery-in-a-French-chateau part, and the threads tying the whole thing together were fine, but the very very end just botched it for me. Either it should have been cut or there should have been more.

The complicated friendship dynamics were fun to untangle though, and I did really enjoy the rest!

Loved the Paris aspect, and was extremely meh about everything else.

The mystery didn't quite hold my attention, and every one of the characters was terrible but not in an interesting way, just in a regular, flat, "I need a character in a thriller" way. But I do extra want to go to Paris now, which is...very not the point of the whole thing.

After almost giving up on this one a couple of times, I am very glad that I didn't but boy is it a weird one.

This feels very creative-writing-master's-thesis-y on the whole, but in the best way. Experimental prose forever looking into the how and why of the writing process and what if you could fix it, control it, turn it into a real breathing thing and guide it as you wished? And what does it mean to want that level of control?

Also I will now be calling people bunny, and I won't be sorry about it.

I went into this with no expectations and Ali knocked it out of the park.

The setup of how vampires (or I guess vampyres) work bugged me ever so slightly, but not in a way I couldn't get over. And there's just enough politics to make the conflicts clear without being suffocating.

Misery is just the best, and her deadpan, snarky sense of humor is what I want to have when I grow up.

I loved Ninth House so much and this one was just...fine. It just didn't catch me the same way, was missing some of the spark that the first one had.

I'll still read the next one (I think there's a next one), and maybe along the way that spark will come back?

Literally spent most of this book giggling and kicking my feet. It is so good, Sloane and Rowan are both perfect angels to be protected at all costs.

I mean, they're also serial killers and the polar opposite of ✨vanilla✨ but I will riot if either of them is harmed. Brynne is immediately added to the auto-buy list and I will be forcing this book on (almost) everyone I've ever met.

I'm gonna have to sit with this one but I think I loved it.

Ultimately it was about nothing, but in the way that Fitzgerald wrote about nothing. It had that same kind of flavor, that same shine that was dulled slightly with distaste for the whole thing. No one did anything at the right time for it to work out the way they wanted it to and really it didn't matter anyway.

I am screaming, crying, and throwing up.

Once again this woman has made me feel my own feelings and twisted stories where they shouldn't have been and she will one day pay for her crimes. I will be here gnawing at the bars of my enclosure until I receive the next book.

I loved the way this one was framed! It's told primarily in flashbacks from one of the women telling the story to the police. Each of the women has their POV represented through the flashbacks, so you still get the whole picture, but was definitely fun.

Very twisty, ultimately very fun, will for sure add Jeneva to the auto read list.

Okay honestly this one was much better than Jeneva's first one, The Perfect Marriage (but that was fun, too).

And the way that little ranch was described definitely did make me want to move there and disconnect from all of everything, even though by the nature of the genre you know that won't last.

Very much enjoyed the twists in this one, and am for sure adding more of her books to the tbr.
