This was a good, quick little thriller. I actually liked the rivalry between Hailey and Alice, it was really well balanced when it could have gotten entirely out of control.

Will be adding at least the next book to the list, because I'm definitely interested to see what they do about Hailey's younger sister's murder.

I'll be honest, I mostly picked this up because I follow the author on Instagram and think her schtick is hilarious, and I'm glad I did.

In spite of the fact that I thought every single character was a complete moron I really liked the way the story played out - particularly the ending. Definitely isn't a shining beacon of perfect writing, but it is a debut so we'll see if her others are better.

I didn't understand why both main characters constantly had the thought that anyone being nice to them meant they wanted to sleep with them (or at least the wife, the husband was having an affair so that at least makes sense that he'd be that self-absorbed), but they did and it was exhausting.

This needed so much more time to breathe. The bones are good, but it feels like there were parts the author decided were boring so she just...didn't write them. It left things feeling a little flat, a little incomplete, and oddly rushed in some places.

Also, for a mafia book, there is startlingly little actual mafia activity and that's just highly disappointing.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 22%.
This is several book reports strung badly (sorry, Katherine) together for a Bachelor's degree honors thesis that I don't think would even be accepted. I would say I'm not sure how it got published, but as is made clear several times in the first hundred pages, Anderson Cooper is - if you can believe it - a Vanderbilt (or at least his mother is) and he is Very Important and knows Very Important People.

Check the index and read one of the three books he cites extensively instead.

So I pretty much devoured this one, it was so fun!

Julian and Dahlia are adorable, and I love how they antagonized each other the whole time. It's a hard line to walk (as someone who antagonizes people daily for fun) between playful snarky and just plain obnoxious and while I don't always do it well, they sure did.

I also loved that their moms were best friends and both families were essentially one. I think the only thing that I didn't quite buy was that Julian is a billionaire - like, sure, you can tell he has money, and that he's conflicted about spending it because he didn't grow up with it, but also idk how a tech company that small could make that much?

I don't know a ton about real estate as a field, but I do know that it's hard to get a tech company worth that much with that little staff. Like apparently it was only his cousin that built it? And there's no mention of a dev team or support team that manages it? Maybe because Julian is on the other side of things, and we'll get that with Rafa's book (spoiler, Rafa is for sure getting his own but you can guess that about 30 pages in) but I simply Do Not Think that's right.

The sheer number of never-before-written sentences in this book is delightful and astounding. I would love to have my brain work in the same way because I would be cracking myself up all the time (more so than I already do, let's be honest).

Admittedly there were a few essays I skipped or bailed on because I wasn't invested, but overall this collection was an extremely good time, and will have me reading her others!
