the verse was gorgeous and kept giving my tingles, but i didn’t realise they were vampires until i read the author’s note at the end? i thought the blood was ONLY a metaphor, and to read other reviews and realise others realised they were vampires makes me want to reread with that knowledge

such a fast paced well thought out book, the ending was not great for my taste which is what stopped this from being a 5 star read (so close)

this book makes me feel confident and able to live freely. i feel like even though it was a short manga, i'll often find myself thinking about ryou and jin and how living shamelessly gives you 1000x times more freedom. cause all i want is to live without regrets and shame and to be myself without worrying all the time what others would think. i think that next time i'll imagine what ryou would do

the writing style wasn’t my favorite but it was definitely addictive in how fast paced it was. i hated all the characters, they didn’t feel fleshed out and were just annoying for most of the book. the manipulation was juicy though if not horrifying, and it was primarily the shock from this being my first domestic thriller got me through lol

I really appreciate this angle of Afghanistan being shown to me since I had little pior knowledge of Kabul under Taliban regime, but honestly I couldn't tell what this book was striving to be stylistically. If it was to be a journalism story, I think it fell flat. As another reviewer said, it feels like fiction, and this sort of ruins the realism of the story imo. I kept reading because I love knowing what life was like and I liked Kamlia's determination, but if not for my own personal interest in the subject I probably would've put it down due to the uninteresting narration style.
