the entire time i was reading i was like “i don’t see why everyone is so disappointed this is so good” IDK maybe it’s because i missed them maybe bc she had no idea who he was, but once it started getting predictable i started loosing interest which is SO tragic bc this was such an exciting release…
the biggest flaw for me was towards the end the writing and plot started to feel rushed and forced together more than anything, but halfway through she lost everything i LOVED about her writing style, there were no twists no surprises or excitement it just got so mundane so fast it felt like whip lash.
this was a beautiful series overall because those first two book are CARRYING but i just expected so much more from such a talented author.

i have no idea whyyyy this one took so long for me to read like i could not get into this particular book until about halfway through even though it is so completely nostalgic and endearing to read and i love the ending sooo much, but because i base a lot of my rating on how a book makes me feel i could only give this a high 3 because although i love the movie and the ending it is just sooo repetitive in the middle it’s rough but live laugh love

first and foremost SO incredibly and indiscreetly similar to hunger games in sooo many ways, but i dooo enjoy a good uprising/ over throwing the government story. :P
i think this book had really phenomenal world building that i haven’t seen in a long time it was very throughly and done well, the plot itself felt a bit scattered at times like he knew the main objective and that was interesting but it was really hard to stay into it when it got a bit repetitive towards the end, speaking of i love all of the deception and i cannot wait to see how it trickles out into the next books i am hoping that the next one won’t be as similar to anything else i’ve read and i can enjoy it from an unbiased perspective :)))

this is such a weird and difficult book to place because on one end it was written with such talent and inspiration i think you can feel how much work she put into this novel that you cannot help but to applaud it but all the same is it dark, twisted, and so uncomfortable at moments it’s hard to stomach.
i think it was frustrating but also eye opening to the perspective of someone so enthralled with their family and the trust they place into them and i think it shows how selfish people can be when they are only given so many options,
after i finished i read “the juniper tree” which is was inspire by and if you are picking that for reference i think you can already see how dark you can expect it to be, but i think she tied the myth in well and mixed it in with her own style of writing it was nice to see.
in the end i think this is a hard book to love but an easy one to appreciate.

what an absolutely enchanting book to get lost in, the storytelling, the character development, the slow burner, the imagery all went absolutely above my expectations, this book was such an exciting experience not only did she write a story but she wrote a whole other story inside of it, ugh HER MIND!!! the only thing i didn’t like was how everything wrapped up in literally one chapter where as i prefer to see it come together more subtly over time,,,,but that’s just me, even still completely loved and will rave about this book <3
