Rumors of War by Dean Hughes

I loved this series. I was a little hesitant to read this series because I feel like some LDS writers can be a little cheesy. . but this was not the case! Hughes did a wonderful job of showing how war affects everyone. I loved how he had characters not only in America, but in Germany too. I know it's a fictional story, but he did try his best to gather accurate sources to portray how life would have been during World War II. I fell in love with the Thomas family and cried when they cried and laughed out loud in a lot of parts too. I loved how he didn't end the series with the war ending, he went into depth of how the war affected the family afterwards, mainly those who fought in it. It was wonderful to read about how just because a war is over, doens't mean you feel better right away. I would reccommend this series to anyone who wants to read about that time era.

This series follows the fictional Thomas family through World War II. I couldn't put these books down and I fell in love with this family. Hughes does a wonderful job of showing how all types of people are affected by war, not just americans. I found myself crying and laughing with the characters and rooting for them to all make it through the war. One more thing I loved was that he went into depth about how the war affects everyone after it's over, especially the soliders. If you are looking for a good historical fiction series, this is it!

This book was AMAZING. I was caught up in the plot from the very beginning. It's a fast paced story, and covers only about 24 hours. It was a sad and a little bit dark, but I loved it. I loved all the characters involved and I had to keep reading to find out who the bad guy was in the end. I would reccommend this book to anyone looking for a somewhat quick read that is totally engrossing.

This book was really, REALLY hard for me to get into. I feel like the main character rambles way too much and goes off on tangets often. I know that she is "writing in her journal", but still. It took away my focus from the story and started too slow for me to stay interested. I realized I didn't care what happened when I found other things to do than read it.

This is my first John Grisham novel I've ever attempted to read. I took up this one because it dealt with sleazy insurance people, and I feel like I deal with them a lot at my work, so it just fueled my fire. I feel like this book was wonderfully written and very fast paced, which I loved. However, I was a little skeptical because I kept waiting for something to go majorly wrong during the trial. I kept waiting for the ball to drop because it all just seemed to good to be true. The ball DID drop, but not the way I expected it to, which I realize now made me like the story that much more. I would definitely recommend this book to someone looking to read a fast-paced novel. The characters are all believable, and it keeps you riveted until the very end.

There were quite a few things that I really liked about this book.I loved how easy it was to read and get into right away. And I loved how it is a true story. This story of a working woman and a boy living basically on the streets who meet under no unusual circumstances. All the lady did was decide to actually stop, take time out of her day, and give this boy a meal. Neither one of them had any idea what friendship would come from that. It really made me think "You never know". This book inspired me to really try and take time to just help someone in need. You never know the benefits from it. Everyone should read this book!
