The Problem of Pain by C.S. Lewis

The Problem of Pain is an open essay regarding man's consciousness towards personal responsibility in contrast with the Christian faith. Although some of his philosophical stances have not aged well and can be easily debated to embrace a modern approach towards religion, and morality, this little book should be of reference to anyone who enjoys theological and doctrine discussions.

Lovely story with a small town charm and sense of community. In a way I wanted the story to be about Sarah but it was rather centered around Grace and the Town activities. Very sweet but slow paced and not clearly plot driven. Cutesy, feel-good cozy read but not necessarily the typical book you need to keep around your shelves.

I still do not know what I read. Is it historical fiction? is it magical realism? is it folklore fiction? The book is so ambiguous and broad in all its themes that is so hard to decipher what the Author intended for this book to be. The characters are unlikeable with a lack of chemistry. The mystery and suspense is always described as heart wrenching but nothing ever happens and when things get cleared at the end is even more disheartening and dull. Not worth your time.

Very easy going and approachable read. Not the most realistic or engaging contemporary paranormal fiction out there but it has its good moments. The relationships between the sisters is very sweet. Not a series I will continue, but I would recommend (for diversion only) to a younger reader.

Truly not understating how can this be considered a Modern French Classic. The cynical attitudes of the characters and amoral conduct is such a waste of time leaving you wondering about the point of expectation about this book. There are parts of it that are luring and gorgeously written but the gaslighting and frivolity of the whole plot only leaves you disgusted. A quick read but read with caution. This is not the most inspiring or perspective changing book you'll ever come across.

As the second installment in the series, the action picks up considerably while the development of twists, betrayals and disappearances amps up the intrigue. These books are your typical slow burn read as many of the elements surrounding the plot are not fully explained. Rather, each character brings in a level of organized chaos and distrust that everything feels new and unexpected. I am not a fantasy reader so my appreciation may not hold global value but I am loving the story development between Ophelia and Thorn along with the many challenges waiting for them ahead. I already ordered Book and 3, 4. Very satisfied so far.

Amy and Ryan's connection is the epicenter of this story as it takes you through a valley of emotions, hopes, frustrations and grief. I loved every single moment of it while reading it. I was hoping Amy could recollect her experience at the end but I knew it would no happen. Regardless, this is a beautiful take on spirits, ghosts and local folklore. A must read.

Such a beautiful, lighthearted story with many secrets and misconceptions leading the characters to an always changing landscape of questions and adventures. Edith is written with such maturity it is refreshing. This is a very short story so the worldbuilding is not very complex or detailed. However, the story is full of tender moments that can be appreciated by young readers.

For a coming of age story with elements of science fiction it is an ok read. Since this is part of a series it has an open ending, so many things are going to be up in the air. An enjoyable read to get distracted but not necessarily a good intro series for adults.

The story development of Jean with his plethora of friends and adventures throughout the south of France is a heartwarming touch full of complex moments to make you reflect about the passing of time and our own ever evolving emotions while always enveloping a sense of hope and new beginnings.
