this book is beautiful and I loved the sort of retelling of the little mermaid from a creole standpoint however i just dislike the trope of girl falls in love for and completely upending her life for no reason.

i enjoyed the first book wayyyy more than this one lowkey thought it was unnecessary for a sequel. also now i am an eriku lover and am irritated by the love triangle.

oh this book was great, it fed my love of drama and it’s just so cool to see the thoughts of each character about what was going on at the time. daisy was such a character. i just had a great time reading.

i learned a lot from this book and it was nice to see a sphere of people not usually represented in american media. it was nice to see all the characters in the different stories connecting but I didn’t feel attached to any of the characters because we didn’t have too much time with each of them. the prose is nice and really easy to read
