The Blood Spilt is the second Rebecka Martinsson novel. I read and enjoyed the first one and this picks up where that left off. Rebecka has been profoundly affected by the events in book 1, to the point she is not really functioning. She returns with a colleague, to the area of her hometown and gradually gets immersed in a case involving the murder of a female priest, who had a lot of enemies as well as worshippers. The development of all the key characters in the story are well done and as a reader you can truly see how it all unfolded, leading to tragic ends.

An atmospheric read, with a measured pace, and great character development make for a very good mystery read.

Foi uma desilusão. Personagens masculinos religiosos e complexados.

This was very dark, but I still want to read the next one.

Not bland, but a rather amorphous, not terribly thrilling thriller. Things just sort of happen, toxic masculinity haunts everything and damages everyone but never feels rooted, more like an exaggeration so that the action and the plot can occur.

Its interest in female perspective adds a bit of bite but I think it could have worked much more effectively as a study of the normalcy of the toxicity: the combination of shifts to a wolf's perspective, a (not really at all) "raging" feminist and her enemies feels like trying to gin up excitement from what could be a much more interesting character study of a rural community.

It's more emotionally complex than your average airport read, but it's jagged and a bit lost within itself trying to graft Silence of the Lambs setpieces onto a place where the real dangers aren't nearly so colourful, but just as destructive in other ways.

Woah, the ending literally broker my heart and I had to jump on to the next book to find out what’s happening next. Book 1, [b:Sun Storm|423523|Sun Storm (Rebecka Martinsson, #1)|Åsa Larsson|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1320410370s/423523.jpg|513611] also had a crazy ending and it was hard to believe that Rebecka got involved in something violent yet again especially as she’s still recovering from trauma. She’s a brave girl though wanting to do the right thing. For some reason though, I couldn’t really get into the mystery side of things and the resolution didn’t quite satisfy (despite the dramatic end). I did find, however, the different culture/atmosphere interesting. It’s curious also, that both books so far involved the church!

well I like it, the book was kinda heavy and slow in some parts (at least for me) but I love the characters and the changes I don't understand why Åsa play with my feelings with the animals things T.T but I loved it, I like the way that she experiments with other type of narration as an example with first person narration and I also love the little alter history that she tell, and the way that Rebecka change and how weak she is in that moment is a good change and a good mix showing her with strong female characters around her.
