The most actionable, practical and resourceful self help book on the market.
This trumps all the 'inspiring and motivating' titles that crowd shelves by providing step by step, scientifically backed and practically proven processes to grow your willpower muscle.
It does not waste words at getting the reader to 'ignore their fears' or 'just do it'; instead it focuses on the cause of willpower deficit and seeks to create solutions accordingly.
Written in an immersive and clear-cut manner, it is a fast read even though it's a nonfiction. Though it is recommended to read it slowly over a course of months and try and implement each method to your struggles.
I would recommend keeping a companion journal to this book to avail the best outcome and take it slow instead of rushing through the book.
Simply, one of the best books I've ever read, this thing is life changing.
"When your mind is preoccupied, your impulses—not your long-term goals—will guide your choices"

I checked this out of the library. But there are so many good lessons in these pages that I'm going to buy a copy for my home library. I highly recommend you read every single page and at least think about the exercises in each chapter. You'll understand yourself better--and make better decisions.

Nice collection of ideas. Get's repetitive after a while and I dropped two thirds of the distance. Need to reread and finish, and maybe.

I listened to the audiobook. An informative read about willpower and changing habits. Good read.

An entertaining and thought-provoking read. There are plenty of real-life applications and examples to ground the ideas presented by by author. And yet, somehow the casual tone and self-helpy aspects made it more difficult for me to engage with the book as a whole. At times it felt like reading a multi-page web article. I expected more depth, more exploration. It was definitely fascinating, but less compelling than it could have been.

This book is fascinating, mostly because it doesn't read like a self-help book, but takes away all of your excuses just the same.

Appeals to my science-y side.

This was an outstanding, enlightening book about willpower and included lots of practical tips (as well as the science to back them up) for understanding and changing behavior.

Read this book to understand willpower and the power of habits in our lives. This would probably be an interesting class to take in college. I plan on using some of her suggestions to see if I can apply them to my own goals. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to think of ways to get out of a slump or stuck procrastinating.

I loved this book! So very practical, and it changed the way I look at some long-standing willpower "battles" in my own life.
