Wow, this book was just so..... AMAZING.
At first I was worried it would be boring because the FMC was skiddish, but once Dan got her to open up and trust.... it was a hole new story.
There is zombie gore, disgusting men who have no respect for women, but there is also happiness, sadness, and love. Definitely a great RH apocalypse read.
Highly recommend

Wasn't my favorite Kylie Scott book… like I’m in no rush to read the second one. At first I was like what is going on. It's like the Zombie Apocalypse happening and there's only two people who escaped, Ali and Daniel. They then work together on trying to survive. They then cross paths with a former cop, Fin and they stick together on trying to survive.

Trauma bonding and desperateness painted as love.
I am sad about this book. It started out alright - albeit a bit cringe with Daniel calling Ali “Babe” right off the bat - but over all I was enjoying it, apart from the very intentional and constant implication that Ali is going to be raped - Whether it was byDan when he chased her into the house and sat on her which caused her to have a panic attack , the hoard of baddies in the supermarket who attack and hunt them, or just any of the other desperate, scary men they encountered on their journey.
Daniel, for the most part, was endearing and funny. Ali was traumatised and had the emotional maturity of a 12 year old. Finn was obsessive and angry.
Also, y’all have known each other for a week, calm down.
Chapter 36 is a play by play of Finn sexually assaulting Ali while Dan watches. She repeatedly says no, she tells him to stop and that she doesn’t want to do it, she turns her head away, she looks and calls to Dan for help. It’s made out to be some kind of “get out of your own head” thing?? Like therapy?? No thanks.

Buddy Read with the MacHalo group.
This book was decent… I didn’t really feel like I learned much about who the characters were. It was all about their current thoughts and emotions.
The dystopian/zombie story was also ok. I did not feel that connected to the characters, and I feel bad saying this but I didn’t really care what happened to them.
I was a bit put off by Daniel's instalove, which was literally instant love/desperation at first sight.
I get why she went for it, I mean she was lucky enough to be rescued by not just one but two gorgeous men. I never really understood why both of them found her irresistible.
In general, I do not get much from ménages but the decision to bring in Finn made sense given the dangerous situation they were in. He was already jealous and speculating fighting Daniel over her, so for both their protection he needed to feel invested in their little group. The sex was pretty hot too.
I did like that Finn & Daniel decided to go against their instincts to protect Ali all the time and allow her some freedom when she wanted it.

But why the hell do they want babies so soon???????? PLUS in a freaking dangerous dystopian area. For this I present one of my favorite gifs:caryambler's review against another edition

If it weren't for the instalove, this would've been a 4 or 5 star book.

The world building was quite … limited. Not a big fan of insta love or the pregnancy trope at the end
Graphic: Misogyny and Gun violence

Not my favorite setting but it's not horrible and I went at this with an open mind not to judge until I read it, with that being said, I guess I'm not a fan of the whole zombie plot it just doesn't catch my interest all that much
