Finn and Joel have a sweet love story. Joel has finally come to his truth and living a life he never thought he would get. Finn has a serious crush on the hot older man who walks his dog by his job site. And once he finally talks to him the crush becomes to much more. These two men start out as friends when Finn helps Joel with a construction project but it turns into so much more. This is a low angst super sweet love story about two men who finally get the happy ending they both have been waiting years for. Loved it!

A group of friends that grew up together and have kept their friendships close throughout the years still has adventures to live. Each man has a story to tell, and this is Finn’s. When an older man comes to the beach where Finn is working to walk his dog, he catches Finn’s eye. Joel has come to town to figure his life out and do some inner searching. Once the two men notice each other the sparks begin to fly. Will Finn and Joel find what they are looking for?

I enjoyed Finn and Joel’s story. The two are good together and it was sweet to watch their relationship take shape. Joel is a man who is just finding himself and must work through a lot. It was nice to see all the support that Joel has from his family. I only wish that his son acted a bit more mature than he did. The son does a lot of adult things but acts like a young immature teenager when it comes to his relationship with his father but everyone reacts differently so I cannot blame him. I also enjoyed seeing the friendship between Finn and his group. The men truly care about each other and support one another and that added a nice dimension to this story. Finn and Joel’s story is a sweet and well-developed story full of wonderful characters. It grabbed my attention right from the start and has me eagerly waiting for the other men’s stories to come.

This is a sweet romance with an age gap and an older man finally living his true self after a 20 year marriage.

There's lots of awwww moments, not much angst and I felt the reactions of his kids ran true in how they responded first to the initial divorce and then once Joel's sexuality was revealed.

Finn was a total sweetheart, although to me, he and all his friends read older than their mid 20s, and I liked his friendly and helpful nature and his shyness.

Joel was also a great character, his fears about finally living an out life were understandable, as were his concerns about what his teenage kids would think. I also very much appreciated that his ex wife was a wonderfully supportive person and they still had a great friendship.

The sex is both emotional and steamy and it felt right at the pace it developed and it has a great sense of place and setting, with a lovely thread of humour running throughout.

Definitely looking forward to more.

A low-angst, heartwarming age gap romance with wonderful MC’s. Finn is a kind, hardworking young man with a great group of friends who I’d love to read more about in future stories. I loved Finn for Joel. And vice-versa, of course. Joel is the kind of character that makes your heart ache for him. He’s spent his entire life hiding who he truly is and is now finally trying to be true to himself and find happiness. I love how much he cares for his children and with how much joy he throws himself into his relationship with Finn. His conversations with his kids came across as very thoughtful and genuine, especially with regards to his (amicable) divorce and his kids’ mixed reactions to his coming out. I loved that his family is so important to him. The secondary characters are amazing, supportive, and funny. Carrie and Megan were awesome! All in all, a romantic read with well-rounded MC’s and a great storyline. Recommend.

This is the first book in a new series (Maine Men) that follows a group of who have been friends since junior high and high school, now in their mid-twenties, as they find the relationships they are looking for. The book does a good job of laying the foundation and introducing the guys. It gets a bit confusing keeping track but keeping track of the others isn’t really necessary to e joying this specific story.

The MCs in this book are group member Finn, a carpenter and Joel, a newly divorced father of teenagers who has finally come out after twenty years of marriage. He had a secret  boyfriend in high school and college but gave in to expectations, got married and had kids and is just now trying to live his life. Finn and Joel meet and become friends when Joel hires Finn though each of them is crushing on the other.

The story arc moves well. We get to know Joel and Finn well so we can feel invested in their HEA. The story is low angst but there is drama and your heart goes out to them as the drama is happening. Joel’s relationship with his ex-wife is such a refreshing change from what we usually get to see (the bitter harridan/harpy/shrew) and it’s so nice to see. There’s a lot of steam as one might expect in the “exploring this new modern gay me” theme. But for the most part it seemed in service to the story and the character development rather than gratuitous. Plus, there’s a cute dog! 😁

I enjoyed the book, which has a preview of book two at the end and will look forward to reading the next book in the series when it comes out.

**I voluntarily read an arc and this is my unbiased opinion.**
