Dear A.M. Johnson,

I'm pretty sure you expected this.
I will admit that I do not like the student/professor trope, so I came into this story with some hesitance.
Be sure and proud of yourself for changing my mind. I'm not sure that I will read something similar from another author but at least I devoured your book.
Donovan and Parker are an amazing couple. I love them so much. I felt so comfortable reading their story and I was so rooting for them that I wouldn't accept something less than what they got.
The age definitely didn't matter here. Parker was taking charge almost all the time, inside and outside the bedroom, and kept showing Donovan what it could be.
Donovan stepped up when it mattered the most and I couldn't love more how this made me feel.

Do you know what my next step was? Ordering Forever Con Amor and starting reading as soon as possible.
Marcos is a lot! How are you gonna handle this, I wonder?

Your obsessed reader,
Asteroula

Thank you to @gayromancereviews for the copy.

I am addicted to AM Johnson's writing and words.

She writes such pretty, emotional and sweet words without them being overly fluffy and OTT. Her characters are always lovable and down-to-earth, balanced in a way that is never stereotypical.
They have that certain "Je ne sais quoi" that just works for me.

Now for the review...

What I loved:
1. The Characters:
Donovan/(Van): He is a recently divorced man, a dad, an editor and a new teacher in a private college.
He is also a bisexual man who has never been with a man, since he got married young and was completely devoted to his wife. Van is such a strong character. He juggles parenthood, 2 jobs and a relationship when he meets and falls for Parker. He is determined to be the best in every aspect in his life, and being with Parker breathes life into him, and shows him what he has been missing. #EyesWideOpen

Parker/Park: Is ex-military and now a college student who is pursuing a writing career. He knows that lusting over his handsome professor isn't going to get him anywhere, but it can't be helped. Park is resilient and courageous, handling life with energy and a positive disposition which is why he gives no f@cks when he sets his sights on Van. #IveGotMyEyesOnYou

2. The Plot:
We get to experience Park and Van navigating their attraction and acting on it, despite the fact that they shouldn't be together because of the college policies. Van and Parker meet anonymously online and then meet without even knowing who the other is. They bond over their love of a gay retelling of Peter Pan and take that first step towards a relationship. #IFoundYouMyLostBoy

3. The Romance:
They come together gradually, first online, then in person. They date, they bond and they become a family so seamlessly. Van's daughter is also part of that family, and Park is beautiful with her. This book is full of feels, and these men are not afraid to express their emotions. #BeautifulToWitness

PS: Van's blushes were the death of me.

4. Steam-o-meter: Steamy and so freaking erotic without being overly sexual! Sexting, Dirty talk...the works!
Van gets all his firsts with Parker and it was so HAWT. #ThisBodyIGiveToYou

5. Angst-o-meter: Lowish Angst. #HappyBookHappyMe

6. The HEA: We get to have a very special HEA in this book! #NoSpoilers!

What an absolutely heartwarming bi-wakening book between two amazing characters. Things to look for in this book:

Bi-awakening ✔️
Single dad ✔️
Professor/student ✔️
Dual POV ✔️
Great side characters ✔️
Adorable dating app convos ✔️

Donovan is 33 and is newly divorced from his wife after she cheated on him. While Donovan was all in with his marriage, he always knew that he was also attracted to men. So once he becomes single, he is hyper aware that he is able to explore that side of himself.

Parker is a 24 year old veteran who is openly gay, but has past trauma from things that happened while in the military.

Parker and Donovan meet when Donovan is Parker’s professors for one of his introductory writing classes and their attraction is instant. But both know that nothing can happen. So they both end up on the same dating app and end up talking to each other without knowing who they are talking to. And once they find out, they are both already in too deep and can’t stop themselves from exploring this relationship. But we all know how relationships like this can possibly end.

I loved the connection between these two characters. A.M. Johnson truly makes their connection so deep with how similar they are with their likes and feelings. The introduction of intimacy between the two characters felt so natural and Parker was really the best first partner for Donovan. He helped him on his new journey and neither ever turned back.

I also really enjoyed watching the relationship between Donovan’s daughter Anne and Parker blossom. They hit it off from the very beginning and they formed their own little bond. There is so much more I want to say, but if you are looking for a low angst, ADORABLE, MM bi-awakening book; then this is the book for you.

Overall I really enjoyed this Audible listen. I did like the pacing of the book. It takes place over a relatively short period of time but you get the sense that they made a really deep connection.

Donovan had been with his ex wife since high school so he never had the opportunity to explore his sexuality. While he knew he was attracted to men, he never acted upon it. Naturally his focus post divorce was his 10 yo daughter but he was still missing something. He signed up for a dating app based on Wilder’s suggestion and met someone he really connected with and was able to actually “experiment” a few things with this anonymous man. But he felt safe and comfortable. Obviously that man turned out to be Parker - who was also his student. This created huge problems because of the university’s policy. He was so hesitant and really needed to take things slow. He did care for Parker so much.

Parker was just a wonderful, open, kind hearted man. He had so much to offer and really wanted Donovan. He was patient and never pushed Donovan to do more than he was comfortable doing. He also had such pride and dedication to the youth home he worked at. He was also so passionate about writing and the praise he received from Donovan and Anders was so overwhelming for him. He truly appreciated all the opportunities and feedback he received. He was so humble. I loved how he was with Anna, Van’s daughter. He was just a good guy and he definitely deserved the happy ending!

The inclusion of Marco in this book was delightful. He was so obnoxious and I loved him.
