I didn't know a thing about Anne Morrow Lindbergh and had just a history book knowledge of Charles Lindbergh so I'm glad I read this novel. It sure didn't make me a fan of Charles Lindbergh, that's for sure. What a controlling, paranoid, cold man. I wasn't too sympathetic toward Anne, either. She had so much potential and didn't fully realize it until the end.

This was a devastating story at times, but such a lovely insight into a monumental historical figure I knew nothing about! Anne was an incredible human, in every way, and as written here she could barely recognize it in herself as her domineering and awful famous husband pushed her down again and again. I’m glad I read reviews that gave a heads up it would not be rose colored romance, as the book follows Anne’s point of view, and it takes her a while to realize the depths of her husbands personality. I’ll read more by this author for sure.

A book I loved and loved to hate... an infuriating protagonist but a fascinating look into history.

I liked this better than Alice I Have Been, which was also quite good. Have read a number of these fictional memoirs lately and now know 3 authors who do it really well: Susan Vreeland, Sena Jeter Naslund and now Melanie Benjamin. I found myself thinking I was reading an actual memoir . . . very nicely done.

Wasn’t very interesting at the beginning, got better

I found this book interesting but a little long on the middle. It was interesting how a woman who was dominated by a powerful personality managed to get out from under it (although it took a very long time) i was also unaware about the cult personality of C. L.
Might be interesting to look into this a lite more

Melanie Benjamin just has a knack for picking out strong women worthy of narrating their own book. Anna Lindbergh is by far her most compelling protagonist yet.
The pages practically turned themselves, and I found myself easily caught up in the riveting story of such an extraordinary woman and her dramatic life and marriage.
That being said, like with Benjamin's other books, I found the end to drag just a tad, and I felt some lost momentum.
Regardless, whatever her next book is, I'll be back!

I liked this book and found it very interesting. They were the rock stars of their time. Still, Charles Lindbergh didn't come off too good and I wanted Anne to "step up" sooner. But, these were real people so that's easy for me to say.

inspired me to read more about Anne Morrow Lindbergh

Fantastic!!!
