I love Jen Frederick and her Woodlands series. I've been waiting for Finn's story since Undeclared and it was well worth the wait. There has always been something about Finn that drew me to him. He's sexy, but he had something in his eyes; something going on inside his head that I wanted to know! Finn lost his father and became a little crazy with the booze and the women. He's inherited his dad's business and it's just not something he loves. One night he runs into the little sister of his ex-girlfriend from high school. Winter has had a crush on Finn since he dated her sister years ago. Finn never forgot Winter and she always had a special place in his heart. When he sees her he's instantly attracted to her and he wants her. They have one hot, steamy night and he never hears from her again. He tries to contact her, but she won't respond. She got under his skin and he wants to try to make it work with her. He doesn't just want one night with her, he wants more. Winter is attracted to him and wants him, but she's reluctant because of his past with her sister. She's still trying to take care of her and thinks that if she finds out about her and Finn she'll be upset. Finn finally gets her to agree to one week with him. Will one week with Finn convince Winter to go all in? Will secrets and lies destroy them before they even get a chance? There is a lot of heat, sweetness and angst in this one!

That I hadn't loved anyone I dated in the past probably wasn't far off the mark, but that didn't mean I wasn't capable of love. It meant I hadn't met the right girl.

"I like her already. She sounds neat."
"Yes, well, you can't ask her out. She's mine. You'll have to find your own hot tattoo artist girlfriend."

So much harder when he returned that love. Having unrequited feelings are safe. It's when you share them that shit gets real.

Winter & Finn

I have really enjoyed this series; there wasn’t a lot of drama which I love. This one was more emotional then I was expecting.

I felt sorry for Winter and all she went through, and she seems like a strong character but she was weak too but I think I like best was she grew throughout the book. Not a lot of characters do and I like that about her.

Finn hmm I that he was the right man for the job but sometimes I think he was in the background to much and needed to step forward a little more but that’s just me.

Over all I enjoyed this and am still looking forward to more in the series.. I am waiting for one character to come…

Great narration Stella is a all-time favorite of mine, and Andrew is become one I need more of in my life.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I dove into this book like I do when I get my hands on a Jen Frederick book-immediately and with high expectations. Jen did not let me down yet again.

I was enthralled with the storyline from the beginning and fell in love with the characters immediately. I wanted Finn and Winter to have their chance at happily ever after. They both have been to hell and back and they are more than deserving of it.

Usually secondary characters are just that, but Jen's left me wanting more from them. Although, I could do without Ivy. Her selfishness was a huge turnoff.

This was a fantastic story about first loves, second chances and making yourself happy. Add this to Jen's Hit List!!

I'm not a huge fan of the whole family relationship thing anyway, and think its kind if icky for people to date siblings. But I got over that. But with a hint if OW making a scene, even if uncalled for. NOPE.

I'm not keen on the heroine starting to see her sisters ex boyfriend troupe.

The author writes it well for a few reasons, first of all the Hero and the sister were much younger so the romance was not as serious.
Also she was drinking and he was invested in sport and sorting his career etc out so his girlfriend was not high priority to him.
The sister describes him as never being emotionally invested in his relationships. I think this helped as he was with the sister but not in love with her.
I think the story would have worked if he hadn't been in a relationship previously with the heroine's sister, she was so manipulative and clever with emotional blackmail it would have been fine as just that without the 'ew' factor.
HEA.
Epilogue.

*****SPOILER ALERT*****

4.75 AMAZING STARS!!!!!

Not having read any of the other books in the Woodlands series, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I LOVE Jen Frederick's writing, so I dived in head first when I got the opportunity to read Unrequited. I was not disappointed.

Winter and Finn get together by chance one night when he was mourning his father's death. They spend a few hot hours in the construction trailer at his job site both had their minds blown. Winter assumes that it will be a one night thing, but a month later, Finn decided he wants more of a relationship. The problem is Winter's sister Ivy. Ivy is a recovering addict and ex-con who is in a delicate position and getting her life back together. She is also Finn's ex-girlfriend from high school through the firs year of college. They spent four years together and Winter isn't sure that they are over each other.

At Finn's pleading, Winter decides to give Finn a chance at a relationship, even with her sister's negativity looming in the background. Things are great, hot really, until Ivy learns that she is pregnant. Ivy says she doesn't know who the father is, but a drunken night spent with Finn in his truck may or may not put him in the running. In an attempt to protect Winter, Finn keeps this information to himself, until it all goes to hell and blows up in his face. He realizes that he may have just lost the most important thing in his life.

I loved this book. Not having met the characters before gave me a fresh perspective on the story. While the sex scenes between Finn and Winter were steamy, watching their relationship develop was really special. Finn is a sweetheart. I loved the way he cherished Ivy. The little things like opening the car door for her and his after care after sex...OMG that one melted my heart. For a big old construction worker, Finn is the tenderest, sweetest man where Winter is concerned and I love how much her loves her.

Ivy's beauty is obvious. Not only in the physical sense, but also in her kindness, her loyalty, the way she loves openly and her ability to continue to forgive and support a sister who has taken so much from her. Her co-workers at Atra, the tattoo parlor, consider her family. She's always there to offer assistance and to give support. While she loves Finn, the conflict between Ivy and Finn caused her to retreat and lick her wounds. Winter had to learn to be selfish for herself, to take what she wanted and that she deserved happiness. She also had to learn whether Finn was worth fighting for.

Even if you have not read the Woodlands series, you should read this book. It was an amazing story of love that is was supposed to be unrequited but turned into something rare and beautiful. Something we all want to find. Now that I have read "Unrequited", I'm off to find the rest of the Woodlands series and start it from the beginning. I can also guarantee that I will re-read "Unrequited". It was that wonderful!

One quick note...The Love Actually conversation hd me in fits of giggles. So did the dad jokes in the epilogue - Tickle-Me-Elmo had me calling everyone I know to share my new bit of fourth grade humor! Thanks Jen Frederick!!! LOL

First, I have not read the other books. Other than the previous relationships and maybe how close the friends are, I was still able to understand what was going on. There were points when I forgot who was dating who, but again it still doesn't take away from the book.

The story starts off pretty quickly, which is good. I understood why Winter liked Finn. All I needed to really know that it was unrequited. I can understand unrequited and so does Winter when she grabs at the chance for a single night. Who ever gets the chance at that? Exactly.

Here's where I got a bit stumped. What I didn't quite understand was why Finn liked Winter at all. I liked Winter but why did he? He was vulnerable, notnquite himself, and he propositioned her. And, except for chasing her because she followed through on the deal, I don't think there was any reason for him to still be thinking about her. The explanation is that she listened to him and maybe understood him but their conversation was hardly long. The reasons for why he pursued her and his feelings for her were not established well so I didn't quite believe that he was still hung up on her. If anything, it felt more like he wanted something he couldn't have because she kept ignoring him.

Also, I'm not too big a fan of stories where one sister dates another sister's ex. I'm also not a fan of stories where friends date each other's exes either. I had friends who used to do this when I was growing up and it was always icky to me. Needless to say, this book did not change my mind.

So overall the book the book is okay the first time but gets better after you get to skip over Ivy the second time around. This book definitely has one of the better beginnings. HEA.
