A solid entry for our intrepid detective Gabe and his sassy hairdresser of a boyfriend Josh. This is definitely not a standalone as each book seems to build on the community that is Blissville, interweaving characters (both alive and dead) and what looks like an overreaching arc that might just span the entire series.

Again, I thoroughly enjoy Gabe the most. The sexy law enforcement guy just ticks off so many of my boxes, and Josh sure is one lucky man! These two have been through some rough patches, but their love is solid and the ending paves the way for more permanence.

If you like established couples who are already living the happily ever after but still have plenty of external challenges, then this is for you! Admittedly, not as smexy as the prior two books and there is a small cheese factor, I still found this easy enjoyable escapism!

I love how perfectly the author blends the mystery and romance aspects of the novel. The new characters, especially Emory, are interesting and I'm looking forward to reading what happens next.

Also, that proposal was adorable.

The book opens with the twin of a murder victim surfacing, leading murderer-y shenanigans. Our MCs remain great - Gabe is as intrepid as ever, sexy and protective. I liked how Josh takes further steps in trusting Gabe and opening up to him about his past. His sassiness is fun!

Their romance is solid and steadfast at this point, but doesn't lack passion in the sheets (there's switching!). Their domestic moments are cute. Much as their sweetness is endearing, it could get a bit cheesy at times. But hey, it's a healthy romance where they communicate properly, so that's a big plus. The writing for this book is a bit choppy and inconsistent though.

Big daddy's home!

That parrot adds the perfect amount of humor to this series. I love how Gabe knows exactly how to handle Josh, and that Josh has finally let his heart win.

Too many names to keep track of in Gabriel's case, so honestly went pretty quickly over those parts of the story and focused on the good parts that was the romance.

After the mini cliffhanger at the end of Something to Dye For. I was keen to dive into Dyed and Gone to Heaven, and whilst I did genuinely enjoy it, and find it engaging, fun, and light. I did start to feel the romance between Josh and Gabe got a bit stagnant, and the mystery aspect kind of disappeared. Plus, I began to lose interest in who killed Nate, and the others, and who did or didn't want the casino to go ahead. But saying that I do truly like these characters, and I'm certainly invested in them enough to continue going with the series. And I would happily recommend it to others.

Each installment just gets better and better. Josh and Gabe (and by extension their friends and family) are more than characters in a story to me. They've become voices I look forward to hearing in my head, making my RL day a more fun a joyous one. These two had such a rough start in life and to witness them take a chance with each other, love each other and grow into this dynamic couple is a beautiful thing.
They talk to each other, they make no assumptions and it makes my heart happy to see Josh really come into his own because Gabe helped to restore his self-confidence. Gabe gently prodded Josh to let him in and josh thank goodness eventually did, exposing all his past hurts ...Trust. He trusts Gabe. He trusts that Gabe is not ashamed of him nor embarrassed by him.

The romance keeps me coming back for more but aside from the romance the mystery is intriguing as well. This particular angle is something you have to read for yourself, I don’t want to spoil it. I will say it makes me want to know more, which is a good thing since mysteries are not my thing. It takes twists and turns I never expected and there's more on the horizon :)

Last but not least are Josh's ( and Gabe's) friends. Josh’s friends are absolutely lovable. They’re more than props to be used for comic relief. Whenever they appear on page, they make the scene come alive. They have become almost as important as Josh and Gabe. I love their side stories and am invested in their happiness. I cannot wait to see what becomes of Chaz, Kyle, Meredith, Adrian and now, Jonathon.

This series is such a fun read. Gabe, Josh and the gang have all come a long way. I look forward to every new adventure they embark on. This is another slam dunk by Aimee Nicole Walker! Book four where are you?!
Happy reading!

I am officially binging this series - I just love the characters, town, and mysteries so much I don't want to stop. Josh and Gabe are stronger in their relationship and now external forces are testing their bond, and I thoroughly enjoyed how the police investigation is long and weighed down with paperwork as in reality.

No cliff hanger in this one!

Unlike book two, this one nicely wraps up the mystery which has been running since the start of the series into the death of Nate, the nightclub owner Gabe once hooked up with.

I'm guessing there will be a full explanation of the whys in the next book but I'm assuming it's all going to come down to greed and money.

I'm also hoping book four will conclude the remaining romances hanging around the secondary characters as I really want to know if Meredith and Chaz get their happy endings with Harley and Kyle respectively and also what's going on with Emory and Jonathan.

I love the style of these books, the mystery is always kept light, even when dealing with horrible murders, and the humour which runs through the narrative helps to enforce that feeling.

Josh and Gabe are definitely making a bid to be in my list of top MM pairings.
