I’m so incredibly happy to have finally read “The Graveyard Book” and to have it be a positive experience. I’ve not read a Neil Gaiman book and disliked it but I have been disappointed to have found something that didn’t make it a perfect book or just thought it was alright. Listening to him narrate is always a delight but now I feel if a movie is ever made about this book that only he can be Silas. Only downside was that Scarlett, who isn’t the main character (thankfully), was kind of annoying, distrustful of those who shouldn’t be, and useless in her teen years. I get that she’s 15 so her actions can be chalked up to being young and inexperienced but still... Who turns on the person who saved their life!? Thinking about it she wouldn’t keep me from rereading or relistening to this book so that’s why my rating is between 4.5 to 5 stars. This has become my favorite Neil Gaiman book of the ones that I’ve read, and can’t wait to check out more from him in the future.
#1 Read for Medievalathon: Started off as a prisoner as I hadn't read a single book for this readathon but am now a peasant. I now have a shield for protection and defense. Counting as a book I had "HIGH expectations for” since everyone has told me that I'd adore this YA book.

5 stars because Neil Gaiman. Seriously though, this wasn't my favorite. I think it's mainly because I like my books less episodic and more tightly connected; but, as usual with Neil, the writing is impeccable. I'd recommend this book purely for the ending- so heartfelt and as realistic as it can be for, you know, a living human being raised by ghosts. No big deal, whatevs.
I have come to the conclusion that Neil Gaiman is my kind of writer. The way he weaves his stories and the simple yet complex tales he tells make my heart skip a beat. In short, I am utterly entranced by this man's writing and the graveyard book was no exception. I adored this book from the first page to the last. I laughed, I smiled, I cried. Never have I connected so deeply with an authors books as I do with Neil Gaiman. I'm off to buy all of his books and I know I will not regret it. The graveyard book was beautiful and haunting and I highly recommend it.
Not as good as I'd hoped it would be, but still an engaging and fun read.
I'll have a review on this book up on my blog soon.
First off, I love Gaiman's books. They're just the right amount of strange and emotional without losing the reader's attention.
This children's book follows a boy who escaped a murderer as a toddler and is now being raised by the ghosts of his local graveyard.
I loved this book but I wish the chapters didn't feel like individual stories that only loosely connect with the rest. I wanted to know more about the Sleer and about the Jacks, but they are rarely seen and don't come into play until the end.
This is a good book for kids who want to start into the suspense/thriller/horror genre without worrying too much about content.

Neil Gaiman is a story telling mastermind!
"There was a hand in the darkness, and it held a knife." ---> What a creepy first line!
This is the first Gaiman book I have read, but I have enjoyed all of the cinematic versions of his stories. I decided it was time to actually read one of them.
"You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change."
Even though this book is marketed as "ages 10 and up," it can absolutely be enjoyed by adults!
The story of a boy whose is the sole survivor after his family is murdered, and gets raised by the inhabitants of a nearby graveyard is definitely a creepy, fast paced tale for everyone!
I loved all the paranormal references. Sandman was the most recent Gaiman TV series that I watched and this book felt very similar to that in it's inclusion of many types of characters and beautiful writing.
