Their emotions was all over the place, and the developments between Lyla and Lachlan always felt rushed or out of the blue. Their reactions and choices also felt unrealistic, and it felt like the author only wanted more drama.
Lachlan had the saddest character delevopment I’ve ever seen. He went from charming and caring, even if he was pretty cocky, to being controlling, over-dramatic, possesive and an asshole.
Lyla was hard to understand, because the way she was described conflicted with how she acted.
I also did not like the way the book talked about SA, personally I want this theme to be approached more respectfully than it was here.

This was a wild ride! I loved the timeline of getting the past as well as the present and it felt really balanced. I loved the mysterious aspect of the story too. Trying to guess who the bad guy was a challenge that had me hooked. I loved these characters. Seeing Lyla grow after going through something so awful was really inspiring. Lachlan being the obsessed boy that he is really melted me too. We love an asshole that's weak for only his girl ❤️ this was a story I didn't want to end and the bonus epilogue was really the best surprise!

Before I start this review I'd like to know why I've never seen this book on booksta or TikTok?! This book deserves more hype! The MMC Lauchlan, made me laugh throughout the whole book it's not every day that you read a book with a dramatic and funny MMC like him 😂 Layla the FMC was a little bit weird at first. She was sarcastic and had a dry sense of humour, but at some point she became relatable ( she doesn't like people, or going out,...). Throughout the book we could see what a fighter and courageous strong woman Layla actually is. What keeps you reading this book is the mystery surrounding Layla’s disappearance for 3 years and why Lachlan wants revenge. It’s also a cute and angsty story. I really enjoyed Claire's writing style. I strongly recommend you read this book, you won't regret it at all.gabsherm33's review against another edition
