it was good but why so many many sex scenes? 1 or 2 or 3 is fine but there was way more than that and it began to bore me and ngl I skimmed.

(edited due to the lack of Hades appreciation and dry af review. Sorry, I was still recovering from the 10 million punches it gave me)

10 stars if I can help it.

"Persephone…” Aidoneus waited, made sure his wife’s eyes met his, that he had her full attention before he dared to say it. “Persephone, I have loved you and only you for forty thousand years. And I will love you and only you until the stars are shaken out of the sky.”

This man, ladies and gentlemen. This. Man.

He's carrying this series and all the other characters under his shoulders (excluding my queen Persephone and Hypnos because

“You are such a whore,” Hypnos said under his breath as he grinned.")

Hades Aidoneus Chthonios, King of the Dead and the Underworld's #1 daddy is easily my favorite character and I loathe the fact that I myself cannot (and possibly will not) experience the depth and intensity and genuiety of his love for Persephone. Yes, as you read this book, you will very well realize that Hades is not the perfect man. But he is a great man, and that makes all the difference between perfection and straight out mediocrity.

He puts her feelings first. Always, ALWAYS turns to her for her opinion and insight before he cements his decision. He didn't sleep with anyone before her, faced temptation head-on without batting an eye all because he knew she was coming to him in the near future and had no business fooling around--

Like... What? This man... This man!!!

She had her status elevated above him (Him, the King, the most powerful man in the Underworld) by the fates and did you know what he said to lucky duck Persephone?

"But know that I would have accepted far less than ruling the Other Side if it meant spending eternity with you.”

OK??? Sir you've basically downgraded from King to side chick A and you still worship the ground she walks upon? (note: Persephone is just as crazy for him and would never accept this emasculation of her Husband rest assured.)

... And because he grabs her neck during

The world-building is beautiful. I don't know much about Hades and Persephone so I'm just taking the story as the author offers. If you like erotica and Hades/Persephone, I don't know why you wouldn't like this book. It has 14 scenes in 488 pages. Each scene goes for about 4 pages. However, the sexy scenes are extremely unbalanced with 11 scenes in the first half and only 3 scenes in the second half of the book. I personally enjoyed this book up to about page 400 and I don't like how they pull the rug out from Hades and poo-poo his character just to elevate Persephone. There are better ways to make the FMC shine than to dump on the MMC. UGH. I want to read the next book in the series but I am concerned it will be a "woman power" type and make Hades a simp.

I usually refrain from rating a book I didn't finish because I want to have the full picture and I don't think it's fair, but clearly, I read a different book from the other 90% of the population.

Obviously, it's not the book for me. If the eons-old Persephone acting like a 12-year-old for half the book; the sex scene (first time of the "heroine") happening during an actual descent to hell in a moving chariot with the hero on his feet, one hand holding the reins, the other one simultaneously holding Persephone to him, stroking her hair, undressing himself, and covering her with his arms; the instant-love; the claiming of a baby as the love interest by a very old god; and the spying on a couple having sex didn't clue me in, the change of pov from one sentence to the next (sometimes up to three times in the same paragraph) certainly did.

This is a really great book. The story takes you away to ancient Greece and provides details that make that era come alive. The characters have rich personality and you can see their growth as the story progresses. I felt really invested in these characters. I love how this author uses the mythology of the gods and expands in it to give a new spin on them too. I can't wait to read the next book!
