I was stuck between 4 & 5 stars. Going with 4 just cuz Tex isn’t my fav. And they killed off one of my fav characters. And Sergio is annoying

I don't know how many times I've read this book and yet I completely forgot about Sergio's obession with Mo.... how strange. Knowing how his story goes on, this just hit me in a very funny way.

This time Tex really grew on me. In the past I just tolerated him barely. But now I can see how much he loved his family and Mo and how difficult it was for him to find a way to safe all.

Can I just say how much I love Phoenix? He's just the best and always will be. I just want to hug him and take all his pain away.

War is coming

"Things were going to get worse before they got better, which was probably why I was having trouble dealing. When you know there’s a storm coming you do everything you can to prepare yourself, but when you’re the storm? When you’re the one causing all that damage? It sucks. People talk about the after effects of the storm, but they never talk about the before… the before is worse. After all, anticipation is always worse than the actual outcome." -Vito Nicio Campisi JR.
(Formerly known as Tex)

The heartbreak, the utter devastation is all just a looming black cloud of agony. You can see it coming but there is absolutely nothing you can do to stop it.
Mo and Tex have a magnetism that is incredibly intense. The love -hate is scorching. The agony is a physical force pressing down on your chest. It hurts to exhale but to inhale is razor blades.

Van Dyken just pulverizes my romantic little heart with every twist of the knife.
'"And even though you’re choosing blood…” Tex sighed. “Sometimes a person does what he has to do, to protect those he values the most.”'

If only we could hate Tex...it would be so much easier. If only Phoenix hadn't teased us with a white horse. If only Sergio were a bad guy.

It seems hate is the last thing I want to do.

I raise my glass to the Elect. I raise it Luca with a nod to Frank. I drink to their health and peace- where ever they may find it.

Yes. I CRIED. It was a raw as the first time and just as confusing for my emotions even knowing the ending. That my dear reader, is a sign of true literature.

Elicit is a fresh concrete. The cover is
Beautiful and polished it looks pristine. But once you step in/turn those pages you find yourself sinking in. That surface is no longer shiny and smooth. It's rough and mucky. It sticks to everything. You can't dislodge yourself without making a bigger mess. And no matter what you do, you cannot get it all off. Even when you get home and try to clean it, it sticks to you. Any exposed skin will feel the burn. The burn that Elicit gives you though is entirely internal.

Elicit is the fourth book in the Eagle Elite series by Rachel Van Dyken. These books are best read in order as they continue the overall story from one book to the next. I was so excited to read Elicit, because I have been dying to get to know both Tex and Mo better. I really loved this book, and this series just keeps getting better. With each book not only do we get to know more about each of the characters, but we also get more about The Family and their world. I really love this series, and these books are not to be missed.

Tex was always the cursed Campisi but after killing his father, he is set to take over as the Cappo. He is used to craving the darkness and the violence, and only one person has ever been able to save him. Mo Abandanato is his best friend's little sister, and the princess of the Abandanato family. They are destined to be enemies, but have loved each other since they were kids. They both know that there is no way for them to be together in the future, but that doesn't stop the feelings that they both have. While they struggle with things that they have both done to hurt each other in the past, they must also face their future and the fact that that means they will be forced to leave each other. But with a war coming, will they be able to help save each other?

I really loved Tex. He was so much different than what you first think. He has always sort of been the quiet one that you never hear much from besides a few jokes, but in this book we really got to see just how smart and dedicated he is. I loved getting to see him as he struggled to balance his love for Mo as well as the fact that their families were on opposing sides. He cared about her so much he would do anything for her, even if that meant breaking his own heart. You could really tell just how deep his feelings for her went. Mo was strong and smart, and had grown up being tough because she had to be. She understood how things worked, and lived her life according. What I loved most about her though was that she loved Tex as much as he loved her, and she was so fierce when it came to him. She would do anything she could to protect him, just like he would do for her. These two absolutely belonged together, and there was no other person who would get them or loved them like they did.

Overall, this was a fantastic addition to the series. I really loved seeing what happened next with all the characters and getting to know Mo and Tex. I feel like they were so much more than what we had seen before. I really can't pick a favorite character or couple from this series because I absolutely love them all. Just when we think we know a character and what is going on, Rachel Van Dyken throws something at you that completely shocks you. I love how everything builds from one book to the next, and we never quite know what all is going on but in the end it all makes sense. I really can't say enough good things about this series, except Rachel Van Dyken is an amazing writer and this series is one I really recommend. If you aren't reading this series or Rachel Van Dyken's books you are seriously missing out! I can't wait to read more from Rachel Van Dyken.

My emotions weren't ready for this book.

Mo and Tex have been on my radar from the first book, it was clear they had chemistry but it was more than that too.

I loved every heart stopping moment of this book. Mo and Tex were the main focus but of course it's more than them. It's all these characters getting in deeper to the life they were born into and every single one of them trying to save each other no matter what the cost because their loyalty is to one another is by far one of my favorite things about this series.

I will be starting the next book ASAP

An interesting take on the mafia romance genre. The characters are interesting enough to keep me reading the series, though I feel like it leans heavily on a lot of mafioso stereotypes.

I loved it! This was seriously amazing. I had been dying to get my hands on Mo and Tex's story since I started this series and it lived up to my expectations. It was full of plot twists, tension and is action packed. It broke my heart and put it together again. I love this series.

I have read every book in this series so far and loved them. I have always loved Tex and I couldn't wait to hear him and Mo's story. Also, it's RVD and I love everything that she writes.

18 & over because of the violence and some adult situation. You need to have read every book in this series in order for everything to make sense. Heavy on the mafia plot-line, so you should probably enjoy Mafia stories.

I knew, I just knew that this was going to be my favorite book in the series so far and I was SO RIGHT!! I heart Tex so much, yes, even more than Nixon and Chase, which I didn't think was possible. He loves Mo with everything that he is and has and you can just feel it. I also really fell for Mo in this story too, she's pretty bad ass. Maybe not as bad ass as Mil is, but still, she's pretty kick ass.

This story will break your heart and then patch it right back up again, over and over. There are all kinds of plot twists and surprises that you NEVER SEE COMING. Only Rachel Van Dyken can write a violent, mafia story that will make you laugh as much as you want to cry and punch something. Yes, the story is heavy on mafia, but it also really endures you to each and every character. You'll wonder how people who do such heinous things are  just like you and me. She shows the human side of the mafia like I've never read from anyone else. Who knew mafioso were so hilarious?

There is a bit of sad in this story, but something that is necessary to the story. So I guess it's not really so bad but just something I wish didn't have to happen, even though I understand it was necessary. Also there is one thing that Tex did that upset me but if you've read the other books, you know what it is. Again, I understand it but I don't like it.

"So sugarplums? Santa? Unicorns? Sheep? Nah, that shit didn't fit in my dreams. It never had."

The Campisi Family

Reading the previous books in this series, I knew I was in for an extended trip on the angst train with Tex and Mo's story. How something that appears to be so damn perfect that can get so damn screwed up seems to be the eternally story between these two.
Tex killed his father, the head of the Campisi family. He has to become a monster he hates in order to protect the ones that he loves. Then the great internal family struggle of who will step up as the head of the family; a struggle that threatens to rip apart everything Tex holds close to his heart. And, in order to protect Mo, he pushes her away.
What Tex doesn't know is that Mo is willing to do anything to save the love of her life, even though he continually tramples all over her heart. And she is willing to let Tex believe whatever it takes to protect him; even at the cost of having him by her side.
The angst is real. There are so many secrets told to try to protect each other when it just leads to a crapfest of hurt and pain. It is only when they truly learn to trust in each other and their love that they truly come together to conquer and control the Campisi family.
