As another person on here said, really short! Probably as short as the one that went with the Chemical Garden series by Lauren DeStefano. So, I liked it, but it was really disappointing that all it was, well, was pretty short and didn't really tell anything extra.

I admit I'm not the brightest at times...Nor do I read things very carefully, such as....synopses...
Needless to say, I thought this was [b:Mila 2.0|10222362|Mila 2.0 (MILA 2.0, #1)|Debra Driza|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1341031998s/10222362.jpg|15122092], so I was quite shocked to see it was only 60 pages. After I figured out it was a novella that wasn't essential to the story, I was pissed I'd spent money on it! It wasn't bad at all, in fact I actually quite liked where I think the story is heading, but I wouldn't have paid for it. The details of the fire aren't that important to the story. Or at least the first 40 pages of it....
Anyway, I will read Mila 2.0, and I sure as hell will be reading synopses more closely now.

This is a VERY small little teaser for the YA novel Mila 2.0. I would estimate it at about 16 pages tops. Now, I will say this; it was a very well written teaser, but I definitely was hoping for something a bit more substantial. This was more like a prologue to Mila 2.0, not a novellette like I was hoping for. I would have enjoyed having a bit more.

However, like I said before; it's very well written. I could picture the fire that Mila was in as I was reading. This author, if Mila 2.0 is as well-written as Origins: The Fire, (and I am sure it will be) has the potential to be as good a storyteller as Suzanne Collins--I say potential because 15 pages doesn't quite seal the deal for me. Still, that is a very high compliment from a Hunger Games fan like me.

Another thing I liked was that it included chapters from the main novel, which I am DYING to get my hands on; I entered a giveaway for an advanced reader's copy, and I lost. Go figure. Anyway, from what I read, it looks super good. And, this book is free, so I can't really complain too much about it being so short, when it didn't cost me anything. I got more than what I paid for, that's for sure.

This little story succeeded in its purpose; it made me want to pick up Mila 2.0 and read it. However, since it doesn't come out until March, I will be impatiently waiting for about a month. I would recommend this to people thinking about reading Mila 2.0; it's a good teaser. Even if you're not sure you want to read it, I still would try Origins: The Fire, because I have a hunch that this author is going to be pretty popular.

This is the first short story in a while that I've read and actually liked. I'm looking forward to reading MILA 2.0.

This is a strange choice, to add a preview of the first actual book in the series consisting of its first no less than seven chapters, out of 40, after a very short story. It makes it difficult to decide what to comment on, but I'll go with the whole package just as it is and say it doesn't have much going for it. The writing's all right, I guess, but the short story doesn't actually seem to say much, generating more confusion than anything else, and that preview actually needs to be this long to get to the first possibly interesting bit. For six and a half chapters, there's nothing there but some silly teen drama, and I'd actually emphasize the "silly" part, with a trace of past tragedy and just a few hints of something a bit more interesting. And those hints may be too little, too much, or simply pointless either way, since the reader already knows what the main character is, whether from the end of the short story or simply from the description.

I expected more from this super short story. I knew it would involve the fire memory that was implanted in Mila's android memories, but I expected more. After the first few seconds of panic, the memory felt like it took too long and fell flat. I wanted more than what we got.

This isn't a bad little short story but it ends up being not much more than a chapter of new material before it turns into an excerpt from the author's full length new novel Mila 2.0. I have that book in my TBR pile so I thought I'd dig on into this one first as I read it was a prequel. Yes, it is a prequel and the writing is quite good and the story definitely caught my attention quickly but its consists of nothing more than one scene which happens a week or two prior to the start of the novel. There is not much we have time to learn about the character or even what type of journey the series will take us on. It is just ok....right as it became interesting it was over. I guess that was the point...to hook potential readers into wanting to purchasehttp://www.goodreads.com/review/edit/16118288# the novel. Still you can read the novel without having to read this but since its currently free there is no reason on earth why you should have to miss it unless you really want to.

This kind of kept me at the edge of my seat. I didn't read the excerpt from "Mila 2.0", 'cause I don't want to get into it and then not have the book to read haha. I can't wait to read it though!
