I really loved this second book in the series! Just enough fantasy and magic, but still pretty firmly rooted in our world.

I am glad that I didn't pick this up last night as soon as I finished re-reading Lobizona because? I wouldn't have been able to put this book down and subsequently wouldn't have been able to sleep because Garber had me crying through the last quarter of this book.

I personally think Cazadora would best enjoy this right after Lobizona, but Manu downs give a fairly good recap at the beginning if you feel you have a good recollection of what went down.

This book was a roller coaster of emotions, from beginning to end. However, you will not want to put it down.

I loved seeing both the repercussions of Septima Society, how others worked to live within it while being different, and how important it is to find that space you belong to even if you are only occasionally able to be there because you can be your true self.

At its core, I would say that this book is an ode to Found Families and defending those you love.

While not the ending I wanted to this book, I do think it was the ending it deserved

Cazadora // by Romina Garber

Cazadora is such a satisfying continuation in the amazing world built by Romina Garber. Lobizona was unlike any other fantasy book I had read before with the way it tied real world current issues into an entirely new world of magic. While book 1 focused on those issues and how Manu would be received and treated in this new world that she just found out about, book 2 actually allowed us to explore that world in a lot more detail. We got to learn much more about the magic, the culture, the government, the characters, and so on. It was a lot less theoretical and a whole lot more serious action. This book was such a quick read with a really satisfying ending that didn't wrap everything up with a neat bow but rather left some things open to the imagination and also didn't fix all the problems the characters had super neatly. Our world isn't always perfect and neat with 100% happy endings and I love it when a book reflects that as well. Garber did a really good job with that here.

Thank you for the free copy in exchange for an honest review.

I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Okay, I'm so freaking excited that I got Cazadora. I'm also really happy that it picks up right where the previous book ended. Plus, we are leaving the human world to explore a new one. If you think things are going to be easier for our friends.. well, you'd think wrong.

Manu is on the run from the Cazadores. Mostly because they want to capture her and lock her up. So, yeah, I feel her pain and not wanting to do that. While trying to dodge everyone, her friends are trying to convince them that she's not harmful like the myth says she would be. Again, nothing was super easy for anyone involved.

Now while I absolutely devoured the first book.. this one took me a bit longer to get through. I just like the pace was a smidge off for me in certain parts and I also wanted a bit more action or something else. The world itself was still amazing but the people living within it weren't so much. Definitely made me suspicious of some and I just wanted Manu to live her freaking life - safely.

In the end, I'm so happy that I got the chance to dive into this. It was a lot of fun to find this series and I'm sad that this book is over. The issues that they brought up throughout these two book made me think and open my eyes at the same time. I also really liked how Manu was trying to figure out where she belonged. She grew throughout these two books and I'm secretly hoping there's going to be a third book.

Pretty please give me another book. I can't walk away from this world yet. I'm not ready. I need more.

I may have to update this review at a future time. After finishing this second book, I quickly searched for when Book 3 would be released only to find this is a duology. It seems unfinished, and only because of that is it getting 4 stars. If it was the second of three, it would get 5 stars because it's a great middle book leading to what could be an epic conclusion. As a final book, it falls short. There are no resolutions to the conflicts or the relationships in this world. Manu is basically where she started, and so is everyone else. I'm being generous with 4 stars, but I'm really hoping Garber writes a third.
