What a wild ride to being a Hero

Geesh, this book had me all up in my feelings. Parker Baylor loves hard!
I thought I was prepared for Kenra and Parker's story, but the emotional upheaval of their relationship left me reeling. I'll be honest,I absolutely hated Kenra for about 65% of this book. I can't stand stories where the two main characters have the flaw of miscommunication for the entire duration,so that was quite frustrating. My blood pressure probably spiked atleast half a dozen times from the sheer angst contained in just one of their many conversations.
By its conclusion, everything was worked out and settled, so if you enjoyed Fumbled
Hearts, and need the backstory for the follow up book " Say You Swear", then give Defenseless Hearts a read.

Parker. He’s no Noah Riley, but he’s right up there. I’ve seen people bash Kenra, but I get where she was in her head. Yet another tear jerker from Meagan.

This was miles better than book one in the series, but by no means was this a great book.

I really struggled getting into this one, despite it being a lot shorter than the first book and having a much more tolerable main cast. I will never escape the beast that is Lolli. She is forever a parasite in my life.

I actually picked up Say You Swear by this author yesterday and read 84 pages before I realized how important this book is to a lot of the conversations and plot of Say You Swear. I'm glad I stopped and picked this up even if I didn't like it all that much.

Defenseless Hearts is the second and final full-length novel in the Fumbled Futures/ Tender Hearts series and follows Parker, Lolli's (book one's FMC) best friend, and Kenra, Nate's (book one's MMC) older sister in their complicated relationship. Parker's been in love with Kenra since they first met, but she's been in a relationship with the soon-to-be state senator, Kellan Vermont for even longer. When Parker's sister, Payton drags Kenra with her to Parker's California house to hide from their mom, the two reconnect in ways they've always wanted to, but Kenra's stuck in a toxic and abusive relationship she can't leave and in the end, she'll never choose Parker... right?

Parker is a sweet baby booboo who deserves the world and Kenra is a very damaged character. This was a lot more emotional and angsty than book one and I liked that aspect of it, but I still was bored and I think that was partial to the writing.

Overall, I'm glad I read this series, as it's given me a lot of insight to prepare for Say You Swear. I'm going to read the short exclusive novella included in the e-book boxset next just to finally finish it all off!

Meagan Brandy is a straight up savage!

SAVAGE, I tell you!

She decimated my heart and did an evil cackle while she threw me in a pit of starving pigs that ripped my body to shreds.

(Okay that was graphic but seriously...)

This book is the reason the word ANGST exists. I mean how many times can she put our poor hearts in a vice, slice them open, and leave them bleeding out before we die?!?!

Apparently, as many as she wants! Defenseless Hearts is thoroughly devastating. Its heart breaking, mind numbingly tragic. It's starrcrossed lovers making Romeo and Juliet look like a fairytale. To clarify, it makes them look like a Disney fairytale. Defenseless Hearts is more Grimm in its heartache. But dont let my ranting scream you off, because it's worth every heartbreaking, soul crushing minute.

Everyone needs a Hero. And Hero deserves HER.
