Blood Assassin surrounds beautiful, bald Sentinel Fane and the psychic he's loved from afar for years, Serra. Serra finds herself in a sticky situation when she is required to help find another high-blood's kidnapped little girl. She has to finish the quest before she can head back to Valhalla to nurse her broken heart. Luckily, her longtime not-so-secret man crush, Fane comes to help her complete the search. Along the way, they burn up a lot more than just miles while seeking out the missing little girl.

Blood Assassin filled in what I felt was missing from the first book in The Sentinels series, Born in Blood. The missing link was more in-depth and longer love scenes, and Blood Assassin fulfilled that requirement for me! In the second installment though, I felt like the villain, Bas, was...not necessarily lame, but he just wasn't the big badass that he was supposed to be! I mean, the readers and even the main characters kept being told that Bas was incredibly dangerous and deadly, but we never saw that at all!

All in all, Blood Assassin was a good one for me. I'm definitely looking forward to the next in the series!

Thank you to NetGalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Not bad, Fane and Serra are cute but I liked Born in Blood better. I look forward to exploring the relationships that continued in this book.

Fane was such a tortured man, especially since he lost his ward. After so many years of avoiding his attraction to Serra it was kind of quick for him to decide he was going to have her. I'm sure she was in danger before this, so he seemed to get over himself pretty quick.

All I can say is it was about time Serra put the lid on her feelings for Fane and let him have a little of his own medicine. She waiting way too long for him to finally get a clue.

The form of control the villian used to control Serra was definitely different, but I was still worried that in the end, he wouldn't hold up his end of the bargain. The story was bringing in character after character so it really kept us guessing on where exactly the back story behind the kidnapping was going. Blood Assassin was a good read and sets the stage for the next installment. We need to find out what the Mave is going to do with the aftermath of this battle.

This book was just so fantastic! I enjoyed it so much, the story having been started in the first book, and yeah, it was just so fantastic to read this book! Can't wait to read more!

Characters: telepath, guardian
World Building: somewhat less confusing than the first book, maybe I'm getting used to this world
Plot: kidnappingx2, race against time, vengeance, unrequited love
Sex: medium
Read another: I don't know. Maybe.

These stories don't seem to grab me. And this one, at least, suffered from a lack of contraception. No discussion at all, which, especially in something reasonably contemporary, takes me right out of the story. Even saying "Supernaturals control reproduction somehow" would be an improvement.

3.5 Wasn't too into this in the beginning, but it gets good fast. I would be interested in checking out the first book, assuming I ever have time.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through Net Galley for an honest review.

OMG this series keeps getting better! Prepare yourself for a glowing review, cause I am so digging this new (to me) series. Only complaint I have is the freaking cliffhanger in the Epilogue with no future book listed on Goodreads to give me a hint of what is going to happen next. Edge of my freaking seat here and totally in the dark. Agony Ms. Ivy, I’m in agony and need to know what happens next. One other minor upset about news pertaining to the Guardian’s of Eternity series too, but don’t want to spoil anything for readers.

So what made this book so great for me. I’m still loving this world with a society of enhanced humans with special powers. I’m guessing this is just what I am in the mood to read right now. It is close to paranormal, but feels fresh guess I might need a break from vamps for a while….maybe/maybe not. Anyway, the world is getting richer and more complex. We are delving into the world of these High Bloods more and learning that there isn’t necessarily a united front. We spent more time learning how they are trained and structured, along with more about their history. We also got a hint as to some future powers the High Bloods might have in future books and just how powerful or dangerous they could be.

The ‘bad guy’, Bas, in this book was better than the last. I actually really liked him, kinda hope he gets his own book…and it is next. He was such an interesting character with a past full of secrets and questionable yet Honorable scruples. We also learned more about the Mave and that she and Wolfe have some serious chemistry. There is also a connection to Bas that I hope to learn more about in his book, hint, hint. There was not much interaction with normal humans and High Bloods in this book, but we did learn a bit more about this Brotherhood. I believe they are going to be the main antagonists for this series and hopefully they get more page time in the next book. Mainly because I’m curious to learn more about how they came about and why they hate High Bloods so much.

The romance was better in this book, maybe a tad more frustrating. Sometimes I just wanted to smack them both upside the head a couple of time and tell them to get over themselves and get together already. I can see why Serra wanted to make him ‘suffer’ a bit, especially if she had been throwing herself at him for so long. And Fane, why is it that some men only want someone after they finally give up and try to move on. I know he wanted to protect her, but enough. They are both adults and need to let each other decide what risks they want to take to be with the one they love. It was a sweet paring though, I loved how protective Fane was and was totally surprised by his softer side.

This is a great series and I wish I would have started it sooner. I hope there are plenty of books to come and that the wait isn’t long. Lovers of paranormal, sci-fi, and supernatural stories or movies should give this series a try.

Bleh. Although I didn't read the first book, I was able to get the gist of the overall story just fine. I like the premise, but the execution was pretty painful. I hate, hate, hate when human characters in books refer to each other as males and females. I mean, I get that these people are not "norms," but they are still some form of human-type-being. Why can't they refer to each other as men and women?? Also, the author is incredibly over the top when she describes each of the protagonists as being the "best" at whatever their abilities are, but when those abilities are tested it's pretty mediocre. Finally, I can handle an alpha male, but this guy was a douche bag. Controlling, violent, condescending, etc... That is not attractive to me, and it should not be enticing to a female character that is supposedly some kind of badass.

Super lame waste of my time. I gave it 3 stars for the effort put in to the idea and world-building, but I may have been a little generous because I felt bad for hating the writing so much.
