The Ellery Hathaway series just gets better and better. If you have not read the previous 3 this is a great place to start. Enough of their background is given so you understand the relationship between police Detective Ellery Hathaway and FBI director Reed Markham, and you do not really need to know that in order to follow their work in figuring out who has kidnapped a 12-year-old child. The end is fabulous especially since it is not really the end. A long-ago unsolved murder that was uncovered during the investigation and thought perhaps connected to the current case is also solved. And boy, what a surprise it was.

4.5 *. This is the 4th book in the series and they are all hard to but down. This book could be read as a stand alone. The story is well thought out and the ending left me wanting more. The author's next book doesn't seem to be part of this series and I wonder is if this is the last one. Either way I look forward to its release.

Every Waking Hour is suitably titled if for no other reason than Ellery and Reed are incapable of turning off and taking a real break. Of course, if you've followed the series, you'll already know how completely dedicated these two are. This fourth book gives us a missing persons case combined with a cold case, and things do get complex and twisted, but it seems nothing's too big for this pair. There's also a bit of romance, or maybe an attempt at romance, and not everyone is on board with Reed and Ellery being a couple. Things do take a bit of a melancholy turn on that front.
One of my favorite things about this series is the combination of the personal and the case. At this point, I feel like I know Ellery and Reed - well, I know Ellery as much as we're allowed to know her. She's a product of her past trauma, which is both what drives her and what keeps her from moving forward. Reed is seriously smart and between his talent for piecing things together and her raw instinct, they make a formidable force. I will say that I'd recommend starting at the beginning of the series to get the most from each book. The cases are different, but there are so many layers to these characters that you won't want to miss any of them.
As far as this fourth Ellery Hathaway book, the case is riveting and keeps you guessing, and the characters are just as intriguing. All in all, another well-written, suspenseful addition to the series.

This is the fourth book in the Ellery Hathaway series and my first time picking up this author. Rookie detective and kidnapping survivor Ellery is searching for a twelve-year-old girl, who happens to disappear, while Ellery and FBI agent Reed Markham are close by. As Ellery dives into the case, it reveals wounds that have not healed.

The missing girl Chloe Lockhart walked away from a busy street fair, ditched her phone, and vanished into the crowd. Did her overprotective parents drive her to run away?

Her determination to find Chloe keeps her working through every clue and secret.

I felt myself at the edge of my seat with every page I turned. This was hard to put down. I'm definitely going back and reading the other books in the series.

Thanks so much to St. Martin's, NetGalley, and the author for this ARC to review

Book 4 in the Ellery Hathaway and Reed Markham series and it just keeps going from strength to strength. Another fantastic instalment that will keep you turning pages. While this could be read as a stand alone I highly recommend reading the first 3 books to understand the characters better.

This time there is a case that hits close to home for Ellery. As a teenager she was saved from a serial killer. by FBI agent Reed Markham. 16 years later na they are working together on a missing girl case. Chloe Lockhart disappears from a street fair in Boston. The family has plenty of secrets and an solved murder in their past so you can be sure that this is one twisty story.

Thanks to St Martin’s Press and Netgalley for my advanced copy of this book to read.

This was the first book I read in the Ellery Hathaway series & I really enjoyed it! Even though there are three other books prior to this one, it wasn’t hard to pick up on the relationship and history that Ellery and Reed shared. I thought the story was interesting and suspenseful, and even though the book ended in the cliff hanger, I really enjoyed it. I look forward to reading the previous three books, as well as the next in the series whenever that should be!

Thank you to NetGalley and St Martin’s Press for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Another great installment in the Ellery Hathaway series. There’s something about these books that grabs me and doesn’t let go, and I’m always wishing there was more when I hit that last page.

We find Ellery once again embroiled in a tough mystery that makes her face her past as she races to solve it. Her dogged determinedness to not only fight for those around her but to keep going despite the life-shattering event of her abduction and near death, always has me rooting for her. She is a character with so much depth, that she is almost as interesting as the mystery she’s working to solve. And of course, I can’t forget Agent Reed Markham, her perfect foil. Steady, warm, and also an expert investigator the two are a team that I always enjoy following through an investigation. If you haven’t read any in the series, head back to book one and I promise you’ll fly through all four and still be ready for more.

this book is part of a terrific series, it can be read as a stand alone book, though i would recommend to read all the prior books in order for the very best experience. the characters have so much depth and heart and hurt and you watch as they learn slowly how to live with it and slowly change. the mystery in this one is good as usual, both a current case and how it relates to what happened many years before, slow building suspense , a bit of humor and characters you care about
