Grizz and Jordy's story felt different from the other alpha books to me. A little sadder, with two broken spirits, and much more intense. It was also interesting in that Jordy was submissive and Grizz did not engage in the world of D/s or BDSM.

In terms of the Paranormal, I much prefer shifters to vampires. I don't read vampire takes if I can avoid them. The vampires in the book give it a darker edge and added suspense.

Grizz and Jordy finding a level of peace in being together was sweet, and included steamy moments. I know Jordy was a fox and submissive, but, she seemed more abused into submission then naturally submissive.

This book is a standalone, but I believe it would be more enjoyable if you read at least the book or two prior to this one. It was difficult for me to get into this one. When I got to the end, I was surprised. It was pretty abrupt. I needed an epilogue of something. I would give it 2.5 stars.

I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy.

I loved it!

This is now one of my new favourites of this series.
There was just something heartwarming about our giant grumpy Grizz and our endearing submissive Jordy.

I also loved the interactions with the Vampire King, our Grizz is definitely something!

The sex is hawwwt (as always) and there were some great toe curling scenes!

On I run to the next book!

I loved almost everything about this book! I loved that we got to know Grizz & even though he's a big grumpy bear he's just a gentle giant when it comes to his Jordy. I really enjoyed these 2 characters & that they are slightly different to the usual shifters that have been in this series so far. I found this book unexpectedly sweet. I'm not a huge fan of vampire stories so am a bit concerned that the series is going to head more in that direction. But just loved this one & would love it if Grizz & Jordy were to play a part in future stories.

Rescued from abuse and guarded by her new mate
BBA #9 reveals a vampire BDSM club. This book starts when our main man rescues a girl he meets there who's clearly being abused by her dom. Turns out she's been enslaved so they go into hiding. Although he's a gruff loner he will do everything to protect his fragile mate and take down this trafficking ring.

Really glad to read Grizzs’ story.

Premise: Grizz, a bear shifter, is on a mysterious revenge mission when he comes across Jordy, a submissive fox shifter who is being mistreated by her master.

I enjoyed the ‘relationship’ part of the story (wounded bird FMC + protective MMC dynamic, with lots of caretaker vibes) but found the action B plot too busy for my liking. There were a lot of threads left unresolved (I’m guessing to set up the next couple of books), and the ending of this story was also a little abrupt.

Overall I did really like this book and found it very readable, but would have preferred a more streamlined B plot and more focus on the main couple.

Paranormal romance reading month 2021 - trying out new books and audiobooks

Rose and Savino start to reveal some of mysteries of their Bad Boy Alphas series in Alpha’s Secret. The focus of this book is on Grizz, a bear shifter who somewhat inexplicably has been working as security for a vampire club. And through that he discovers a shifter submissive serving a vampire master. It’s his rescue of Jordy from her inhumane living conditions that drives the immediate plot of Alpha’s Secret, but it’s the antagonistic relationship between the vampires and the shifters that’s at the heart of this story.

There are lots of revelations about what’s going on with missing shifters in Alpha’s Secret; this book is aptly named. And I thought there was a core of tenderness in Grizz’s feelings for Jordy. Jordy was a tougher character to understand, as she’s so subsumed in her submissive status that she’s become a slave, and it takes her a long time to shake off those shackles and establish herself.

There are some abrupt about-faces in Alpha’s Secret. Grizz is driven by revenge—until he isn’t. Jordy is totally slave-like—until she isn’t. I would have liked a bit more indication of what was coming, particularly for Grizz. But the overall story moves forward dramatically in this book. There are revelations, not only about Grizz’s personal mysteries, but about the risks and threats to the shifter community, that make Alpha’s Secret a great read.

As this book is number 10 in its series, it can be read on its own, but it’s a much richer experience if read in series order. I’m looking forward to seeing all of the secrets of Bad Boy Alphas revealed in future books.

Decent story

It was good. There was a lot of buildup and then it kind of ended with no real conflict. I was a little surprised. It was ok though.
